Using Mercalli

Post by Terfyn »

I have tried to stabilise a tele shot using Mercalli. The shot requests a re-analysis which I do by "customising the filter" and clicking OK. The shot is re-analysed.
When I render the video and play back, each shot that has the Mercalli filter applied is shown with the re-analyse logo on it and the shot darkened.
What am I doing wrong?

I have used the Mercalli "Rock Steady Camera" a number of times and have never seen that problem so can't give a definitive answer but a couple pf comments

you quickly glossed over 'the shot is re-analysed' -- for me that can take quite a long time - just checked a 13 second clip took 45 seconds to re-analyse

mine then comes out of the analyse window back to the main edit screen - but with the re-analyse message still showing - I just play the clip and that instantly vanishes

one thing I have just noticed while testing for your problem is that if you change the length of the analysed clip - say by clipping the end off the message reappears - BUT only in project mode so if you stay in clip you do not see it - but it is there - and the video renders with it showing -- so are you editing the clip after analysis ?

When you render, make sure you select "Save as Project Settings", this issue was reported some time ago and this was the solution

although I did use 'same as project settings' after changing the length of the clip after analysis - and the message still showed

The screen showed a greenish picture of the shot and the re-analysis took some seconds. I then click on the clip and the replay shows just a steadier clip with out the message.
Having been caught out with the change of clip length, I edited all the clips before applying the Mercalli filter.

Will try the "Save as Project setings" on render.
Wii report back.

Edit: Applied "Same as project settings" and this cleared the rendered video so problem solved.
Thanks Brian and RobertOz.
