I bought the Panasonic AG-UX180 Camcorder recently
Need a editing software
Do any one know if Video Studio X10 can support the file shoot by this Camcorder
Which is 4K 60P mp4 or mov file
Thanks!

mov is not supported anymore by apple on PC so you stuck with something who knows how long will last.
MP4 is all about it's codec, and above all it's the system you build and the demanding job you do (will it handle 8 4k tracks?).
If you give us few short clips of your camera to download we can report if at least some basic work can be done with them. Only few here work with 4K.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
My Panasonic cameras are supported: a recent GX85 and the older GH4 produce similar video files and they all work, even .MOV files, however, I recommend you select .mp4 files.ytaffy wrote:I bought the Panasonic AG-UX180 Camcorder recently

I can't speak on 60P (50P for PAL people), but I do know that 25P 4K MPG4 100Mbps files work fine in VS. As posted above, make sure you have a strong computer to handle making effects/color correction/multitrack, etc... But you can always create smaller proxy files and then export when done.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
If I may pop in, I was able to import 4K,60fps,MOV without issue so far in the Trial Version of VSPx10 (here is a Screenshot of the Properties window that VSPx10 sees for a short five second MOV clip): The "MOV" portion is more just a 'container' by the way, which can hold various codecs/formats inside (MPEG-4, etc).ytaffy wrote:I bought the Panasonic AG-UX180 Camcorder recently

Original MOV files in the 1990's had their own specified codecs that it 'preferred' (QuickTime_Cinepak, QuickTime_Sorenson), but many modern applications will read the MPEG-4 codec in the MOV container these days.
MOV is listed as one of the Input formats for VSPx10 on their System Requirements page - so hopefully it will work without issues for you, too!

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
Thanks! But the New 4K Camcorder are recording 4K 60P format rather than usual 4K 30P file. I still need to make sure if 4K 60P format can work.aljimenez wrote:My Panasonic cameras are supported: a recent GX85 and the older GH4 produce similar video files and they all work, even .MOV files, however, I recommend you select .mp4 files.ytaffy wrote:I bought the Panasonic AG-UX180 Camcorder recently

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
If you want to be sure, download the trial version. You can also upload a short sample to the cloud for people to test since no one who has posted here has the same camera or 60P 4K.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
Just downloaded the file. Nice! Egrets building a nest! I will have to see if a proxy is made for it since I can't play it back smoothly. My computer doesn't have enough horsepower. It plays back, but stutters.
After proxy is created, it plays back smoothly. It's the proxy file playing back. But there is no issues at all.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
I'm a bit surprised, Tony, since your computer looks far more powerful than mine. Yet that clip plays perfectly smoothly in X10, and also asked me if I wanted the Project Properties to match. I don't have SmartProxy enabled. I then made a new video from it using Same As Project Settings, and it too played perfectly smoothly.
Interestingly enough, though, VLC Player would only play the first frame, though the audio continued. Media Player Classic HC played it very jerkily. I had half expected X10 to do the same...

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
In my fairly new and powerful pc: VLC stutters, Windows Media Player shows a black screen and only plays the audio, SMPlayer plays it fine. The bitrate is 150Mbps and appears to be constant bitrate not variable. Vstudio does admirably well, the video is smooth while the audio stutters a bit (an excellent decision to keep video smooth and if it can't keep up let the audio stutter). I also do not use proxy files; I think this is very impressive. Even X9 works with this file very well.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
That also is interesting re the audio. With me that too was smooth both in the original and in the new video I made. Did you re-render the clip, Al, and if so, how was the audio then?

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
Rendered with X9 same as project file which is same as video file just fine. Plays the same as the original video file. It rendered at 144 Mbps bitrate, but it took its time rendering even without any edits at all.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
Hey Ken, after reading your post, I restarted my computer. I had been using it all day with many applications open when I tried to play the clip back. After the restart, it played back ok.
VLC struggled with it. WMP did nothing.
Looking at the file with MediaInfo, yes, it's 150Mbps size. Interesting since I too plan on at the end of year to go 60P in 4K. I'm slowly building a new computer that I hope will handle everything.
I'm looking to the Panasonic GH5.

Re: File format support of Video Studio X10
Just re-did this test on my Win 10 laptop with X10 and the behavior is quite a bit better. First X10 has no issues playing this clip including no stutter with the audio. Rendering same as the video clip resulted in a 23.6Mbps file; not sure if this is due to different defaults in the codec. The rendered file played perfectly in Windows Media Player. The original file also plays perfectly in Windows Media Player.
Thus, both X10, and Win 10 in a lower performing laptop than my main pc work with this file much better.
