freezing while burning - possible solution

Post by feijoo »

MF4 (alias FilmBrennerei 4.0 Deluxe) got stuck at "50%" while preparing the video titles for burning. The problem seemed to be to join some video clips as without joining them, it worked. I tried everything, changed the video bitrates etc., even updated the IDE-driver - impossible.
What finally helped was switching the audio mode from LPCM to MPEG although there was absolutely nothing special about the audio tracks! :o
BTW: I found the trick in this web board - unfortunately can't remember what topic it was - and couldn't believe that this should be a solution. I only tried it because nothing else worked.

I've renamed that icon to the "Damn" icon. It doesn't work correctly if you have edited the videos on the timeline.
Even using dv.avi type-2 hitting the join icon makes my system unresponive. It takes a few minutes to come back to full focus.
I was working with about 6 small dv files.

Even MF3 has problems joining sometimes. Many people want the join
feature to create one icon on the 1st menu page.

I've also noticed that MF3 & 4 both work with mpeg audio pretty good.

Instead of having MF4 render and join the videos in the disk creation screen
you can export it from the timeline to one mpeg2 file. It will still crash if it's going to
but using that method lets you know if it will work or not before the time-consuming process
of creating the menus and background music.

System halts during file rendering before burninc

Post by Ubiratan da Motta »

I have the same problem. I bought this software and my first test was this. When the software is preparing to burn system halts at 66%. I am creating a single DVD with one several chapters but it does not work. It is very difficult to send an e-mail to Ulead and I do not know what to do. I am using .AVI individual files for each chapter.

What's working on my machine is to Export using the export icon, third icon down on the left side of the timeline.

Export each file out separately to the mpeg2 settings that you want for the project to be. Edited material or not should be exporting each one out individually.
If you Join any editing material it isn't working well on my system(s).

You can highlight/select all the clips and when exporting they will be separated. When exporting MF4 will say Video1, Video2 etc.

Then after exporting the avi's out to separate mpeg2 files start a new project and import those back into MF4.
You can then Join those as long as you don't edit them using the fast export icon. The "Fast Export" icon will Join the mpeg2 files into 1 mpeg2 file using the settings of the 1st mpeg2 file. They should all be the same for this to work and MF4 will use the "Smart-'Render" to do it. Should go very fast.
Then re-import that new exported video.
At least this method will show where the system is crashing because if you use the join feature and export you will most likely get an error which is the same error in the disc creation module except the creation module doesn't exactly tell you what's going on.

Hope this helps,

Burning freezes at 66%

Post by mikeb »

I have had the same problems with the burning freezing at 66%. In task manager I found that as well as MF4 not responding, Roxie was also not responding. I uninstalled the Roxie software and installed nero express 6 and have not had this problem since.
