It doesn't take full advantage of them.
I have a system with a P4D EE 840, which has two HT-enabled physical cores. UVS is not able to keep it 100% busy at any one time, but depending on the output format, it can manage about 60%. I figure two physical processors are busy encoding, and one logical processor is working on I/O and the preview.
