PSP 8 with Win 10: crashes using guides

I'm guessing that this annoying problem is confined to PSP 8 running under Windows 10, in which case I doubt there are many other such users around, but I'll ask anyway.

PSP 8 crashes if
1. I drag a guide line onto my image and then return it without releasing the mouse button. That's consistent.
2. I drag a guide line onto my image, place it, return later and try to return it. That seems to depend on how quickly I drag it back.
3. I drag a guide line onto my image, place it, return later and use the double click method to delete it. That's unpredictable.

Anyone have any suggestions on how I might try fixing that please, other than not using the guides at all?

There was a long standing bug where if you dragged out a guide and held on to it too long it would crash the system. They eventually fixed it in later versions. So I'm not sure how it relates to what you're experiencing. All I can tell you is, when working with guides, be quick about it.

Thanks. I don't think I ever had the problem in 15 years using PSP8 under XP.
