Help! I've lost my Left Tools Panel

Post by RickHeath »

Aftershot Pro 3 (v3.2.0.205 64 bit) on Windows 10.

The Left Tools Panel has disappeared completely. Neither Floating or Docking it from the View menu makes is reappear. I tried uninstalling & reinstalling (as well as uninstalling an old v1 of Aftershot Pro, that was still on the system, while I was at it). Is there any way to reset things so it might come back - it means that I can no longer navigate to find the images I want to work on - which could be awkward as I've got a wedding shoot coming up at the weekend (The backup plan will be to install onto a different computer (with only 1 monitor :) ) which should, hopefully, have me back up & running until the problem is solved).

The longer story: I have 2 monitors plus an HD TV, acting as a 3rd screen when I want it, connected to my PC. For reasons best known to Windows &/or the Graphics card the TV is fixed as Display 2, with Display 1 as my main screen & 3 as my normal secondary screen. When the TV is turned on it causes temporary "strangeness" - the monitors flicker & any open windows on my 2nd screen (Display 3) usually jump to the TV (Display 2). This happened when Aftershot Pro was open & both the left & right tool panels were floated & on my secondary screen (so I could use the whole of Display 1 for the current image &/or the thumbnails). After the flickering the right Tools Panel was still there on the 2nd screen (Display 3) but the Left Tools Panel had gone & hadn't reappeared on the TV (Display 2). Trying to re-dock it did nothing & neither did an uninstall followed by a reinstall of a freshly downloaded copy (although it was already running v3.2.0.205 before the uninstall). I tried the "Reset default files" (& "Re-enable all warning dialogs" in case that did anything).

I've no idea what I might try next! Any suggestions?

Rick.

Try Clicking View >> Toggle Left Panel. This option seems to hide or show the Left Panel.

Thanks but no - that doesn't do anything! Nothing appears. I think I'd already tried it. All the other toggle option seem to work fine.

A support ticket has been promptly answered :D & normality* has been restored.

Is it worth posting the instructions on how to restore the program to a "factory fresh" condition?

I am experiencing the same issue with my left hand tools/directory missing. Dock/undock does not work. Float/non float does not work. Flipping panels does not work. Reinstalling does not work. Clearing appdata does not work.

My Resolution.

I have two windows accounts on my computer - where the second account's program worked correctly. I looked at the current user registry settings and noticed significant difference - many entries were missing from the main account (admin) that were present in the second account.

Created a System Restore Point - Precaution
Exported the entire registry to a different computer - Precaution

From the second account create an export of the entire registry settings for Aftershot Pro 3 to a thumb drive or different computer
From the admin (or user account with the problem) import the registry settings and close.

Relaunch Aftershot Pro 3. The proper tools were present.

Don't know if that was the recommended way, possibly risky, but it worked for me.
