DirectX 9?????

I'm currently using MF3. I was trying to upgrade to MF 4. Everytime (I've redownloaded the file several times from different mirrors) I try to install MF4 I get an error stating that I need DirectX 9 or better. I used DXDiag to verify that my machine is using Direct X 9.0c? Why won't MF4 install and what can I do to fix it?

Yap Direct X 9c will do. Why don't you try cleaning your registry and temporary folders first before you install MF4. ^_^

I'm having the same problems. I deleted all the files in my temp folders and checked the key "Version" in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX\" which reads "4.09.00.0904" Which is correct for 9.0c according to MSDN.

Not sure of what other registry settings to check?

Rerunning DirectX setup is no help as it detects the version and just exits out. And don't know of a way to force it to repair it's registry settings.

Running XP Home with Service pack 2.

Why don't you try repairing your Windows XP? Could it be due to your system that directX fails to function causing MF4 upgrade not to install properly. Hope this helps. ^_^

Looks like I got it, running "sfc /scannow" at the command prompt seems to have done the trick. Kind of weird, all my games were working, and other directX things installed... but obviously some file wasn't right.
