Is there a way to edit keyboard increments

Post by Sunwers »

Hi,

I need to know if there is a way to change the keyboard increments. I'm trying to grade a pattern piece using PSP X9. When I copy the pattern piece to a new vector layer so I can grade it up, I select the node and use the arrow keys to move the node up. But it moves in very small increments. For example if I need to move a node a 1/4 to the left and 1/4 up is there a way to setup the keyboard increments to move at a 1/4 at a time?

Thanks

Have you tried holding down the Ctrl, Shift, Ctrl+Shift keys while pressing the arrow keys?

I'm curious what you mean by 1/4th. The nodes are pixel based, so normal movements are 1 pixel. Forriner mentioned holding CTRL, SHIFT, and CTRL+SHIFT. CTRL + arrow key will move 10 pixels per key press. SHIFT + arrow key will move 50 pixels per key press. SHIFT + CTRL + arrow key will move 100 pixels.

So if you're wanting to move a node 1/4th of an inch or 1/4th of a centimeter you need to know the DPI of PPI or PPCM of your image. So, based on these movements:

arrowkey = 1/4th of 4PPI or PPCM
CTRL + arrowkey = 1/4th of 40PPI or PPCM
SHIFT + arrowkey = 1/4th of 200PPI or PPCM
CTRL + SHIFT + arrowkey = 1/4th of 400PPI or PPCM

You can use the resize command to change the Print size resolution to match these. That's the easiest way.

It would also be possible to move nodes 1/4th of the current resolution but that would require 4 scripts, one for each direction. With obvious rounding errors because you're still limited to full pixel movements.
