batch convert H.264 1920 x 1080 to 1920 x 1080 MP4 files?

Post by delaluz »

My work flow for editing a choir & dance concert project is:

1. edit each act
2. Create via a the "share" step an AVC/h.264 1920 x 1080 file (same as source footage) for each act.
3. When I complete steps 1-2 for all the acts I do a batch convert & convert all the files produced in step 2 to the MPEG-2 files so I can produce a DVD. This works fine.
4. Then to produce high quality 1920 x 1080 MP4 files to upload to youtube I load each AVC/H.264 file separately into the time line & then create the MPG-4 1920 x1080 file. This works fine.

I would like to use the batch convert to convert all of the AVC/H.264 files at once to MPEG-4 files in 1920 x 1080 files but I don't see where I can change the screen dimensions to 1920 x 1080 in the MPEG-4 default profile. I saw a video on creating profiles that the batch converter could use but I wasn't able to select the 1980 x 1080 screen dimensions.

Obviously I could create the MPEG-4 files right after I create the AVC/h.264 files in step 2. However, I would rather create the youtube files in a separate batch process. Is there any way to do this?

Hi

First add a file to the Batch Convert panel, that will allow you to use the Options button
Choose Save as File type as Mpeg4 – then press Options to edit the template.

Compression tab – Video Type as H.264-High
Set data rate
General tab, set FrameRate, Frame type and Frame size

By the way you can also add VSP to the batch converter

I followed your advice & created a profile for youtube videos. Worked great.

What do you mean by "also add VSP to the batch converter"? Does it convert all of the files in a project?

Hi

Yes you can add a VSP project file or indeed a few project files to the Batch Convert

Provided the VSP is good and runs ok on the timelines, no re-link issues etc, then the Batch will render all your VSP's in one go, treating them like any other video file.
