Re: Pre Order X10 Ultimate sale

Thanks for posting the link ! I was getting an X10 pre-release window a few days ago when opening X9 but not anymore.

Few questions if anyone knows :

(1) on top of the 59$ , do we still have to add 10$ for the Bluray MyDVD authoring/codec ?

(2) Does the Mask Creator apply to videos or only to still images (in other words, will the video motion-track the mask ) ?

(3) Are the advertized 100+ menu templates more and better than actual X9 Ultimate menu templates ( VS is a very professional-looking editing software but besides the black theater canopy menu template, most menu templates look amateur or for children videos ; would be nice to have a couple of "classy" professional-looking menu templates (or maybe a couple of 3D menu templates) ?

Thanks !

I don't think anyone is really going to go through "100's" of templates comparing them with those that are in X9.
I can't answer on Bluray since I have never burned one so really don't need it. Others maybe can comment.
As for the mask... it does have video included in the selection (still or video), but haven't tried it yet.
Best to download the trial version and give it a shot yourself. Or, buy the full upgrade and try it for 30 days to see if it suits your needs. If not... refund time!

Yes you will still need to buy the blu-ray authoring pack separately brouillette if you are one of the dwindling number of users who still burn blu-ray DVD's - more and more users now transfer their videos to USB stick or portable hard drive and plug that straight into the TV.

What the DVD menu's you use for your discs look like is very much up to you -- most people want their menu to reflect what is on the disc - I have no idea what your definition of "classy" is - but I have just done the menu below for my latest trip (in Videostudio) - - I really hope it is not "amateur or childlike" - whether it is "classy" is a personal definition - I am happy with it

DVD menu China.PNG

and many of the major TV manufacturers have announced they are not going to produce any more 3D TV's as there is no demand - so there will not be much - if any - call for 3D templates

Thanks TonyP and BrianCee for your input!
I got a detailed explanation from Ken Berry on another post "Bluray Rendering Format Confusion" and since I do understand better why most of you don't burn discs anymore.

BrianCee,
your menu is what I would call "classy" and good-looking ; I guess it is a custom one that you produced yourself usind as a start a VS template. I was referring more to the galery of ready-to-use menu templates provided in VSX9; I will see what VSX10 meant by 100+ menu templates when I'll get VSX10 and try it !

Thanks !

I have upgraded to VS X9.5 ulitmate some weeks ago. Now, with the launch of X10 Ultimate I'm wondering if it's really worth it?? Will there be more Newblue Fx than on X9.5 ??

X10 has the same NewBlue packages as X9/9.5, viz. Essentials 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 -- plus NB Sampler, Color Fast, Motion Effects and NB Titler which is now called Pro, but is only a slightly later build than the old Titler EX in earlier versions.

X10 also brings in yet another titling program -- Boris BCC Title Studio, as well as Graffiti.

FWIW, when going through my normal websites this morning, one of them (my local weather!!) had an ad in the corner for VS 10. I clicked on the link and it took me to the legitimate VideoStudio website, advertising VS 10: http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/produc ... vAod6ykNhg

Just to crosscheck, I then went to plain http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/ and it too brought up the full page for X10. So it seems Corel has now brought forward its full public release date. I wonder where this leaves the pre-release offer of a reduced price. In my case that was NZ$74 for X10 Ultimate, whereas the price on the main website is now NZ$149 for the full version and NZ$99 for the upgrade version.

Ken,

I received an email reminder from Corel on the morning of February 15th which reads, "Act now to save 25% on the new VideoStudio Ultimate X10. This exclusive, limited time offer expires February 28, 2017."

The reminder also promised "Exclusive savings and early access just for you." I am intrigued by the promise of early access, but they give no specifics.

I guess we had been assuming that the public release date would be early March, given the end date of 28 February for this pre-release (i.e. early access to X10) offer. But it now seems Corel have jumped the gun and made X10 generally available. Hopefully the 25% reduction in price will remain for those using the link in the type of message you have received.

I too am wondering if I should take this until 28 Feb. (midnight) valid X10 Ultimate upgrade offer - or not - or wait?

In December I upgraded to X9 but only to Pro version. I have downloaded the trial X10 which (almost) looks exactly like the X9 Pro version (new is an addition Tab Welcome where you can check out instruction videos or buy extra things directly = a window opens for payment details - in Edit under column + Add there are some new things but mostly things like buy music - and the new additions!) In the trial version there are no Special Effects Pack but I will list what these are below. The rest is pretty much the same.

I am somewhat disappointed by what comes with the X10 - the 360 degree option is no good to me (and you need a very good computer - so no multi-camera either for me!) - I fail to understand why we need 2 new title effects at the same time (Boris/NewBlue + there is also the older Boris Graffiti 7 Titles), would have preferred something else - and the ProDad Adorage is also more or less useless (to me), unless you need this terrible kind of effects - firework shows rather than video film.

That leaves (for me): Mask Creator + Time Remapping + Track Transparency (I can do without NewBlue Titler Pro 1 as well, as the film is more important to me) = Very disappointing

Of course I only have X9Pro

But is it really worth the asked money? This is what keeps me busy, it doesn’t feel like it - but?

What do others think?

Only you can decide if it's worth the cost. At the upgrade price, you are getting a lot. Especially coming from the Pro version. But if you don't need what it offers, don't upgrade. I've never upgraded for the sake of it. There has to be a compelling reason for me to do it.
I have X4U-6U. Skipped X7 because it had nothing I was interested in. Then skipped X8 too. X9 and X10 I do have. BUT.. you haven't seen the effects. There is more than "fireworks" in Adorage. Titles are important for a video. Whether NB Pro 1 is what you want, depends on you. If you can get by with the supplied titles, then great.

Then just what would you like to see in future versions, give a list so that can be included in the wish list for VSX11

No, but it releases some steam...

To extra22, I think your mistake was to go the X9 pro way and not to Ult for ~15$ more.
I don't know what type of work you do and what your esthetics needs but sometime down the path you might regret not having just another tool. If you short on $$ than you better wait few months for X10 sale.
**Surly no need for you to upgrade from X9 pro to X10 pro they are unfortunately basically the same.

Thanks a lot for the replies and suggestions - I really appreciate it

It also helped me realise that I had made a big mistake when transferring all my software (and I have a lot) over from an i3 to an i5.

The mistake was: originally i got the X9 Pro but afterwards got the Ultimate upgrade pack but did not install it due to the transfer which took quite a while - I then forgot about this when installing on the i5 and just installed the Pro version. Yesterday I remembered this and installed the X9 Ultimate pack = so I now have X9 Ultimate

which changes the situation! So maybe I now wait - and maybe not - still undecided !

but still have a few more days before deadline

the only thing I (think) would have liked to have in effects is (perhaps) the NewBlueFX Paint (because I am an artist and kind of like these effects) - but some of these effects seem to be already included (maybe not as good?)

most of these effects are out of my financial range - but in the X10 Trial software under the new Welcome Tab there were a few effects listed you could buy as extras (including FX Paint) at a reasonable price - X9 Ultimate does not give you this option - which is a pity!
