Fonts not accessible

Post by Nitro »

I have recently purchased PSP X9 and in previous versions when using fonts that are not installed I only had to open and minimize the font for it to be accessible, now this is not possible and I have to install the font for it to be enabled. I contacted corel help and it was suggested I delete temp files, update graphics driver, clear my cache, and reset workspace. I did all this but I am still not able to access open fonts unless they are installed.
Any other suggestions/solutions would be most appreciated.
Thanks :)

I think this was a lost feature of Windows XP. It was great in that if you wanted to use a font once only then double click, minimise and that font was temporarily available in programs as long as that font window was open.
From Windows 7 upwards it had to be installed. Not sure what it was with Windows Vista as I never had that one.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

You don't really have to install those fonts to use them in PSP. If you are using certain Font viewers, as long as the font is visible in the viewer, it will be accessible in PSP.

Here is a little blog post about font viewers (the one i still use is TheFontThing)

Thanks for the replies. To be honest I never considered Windows being the problem! I have used XP for years but recently had to upgrade my computer and the new one has Windows 10 (not sure how much I like it yet) at the same time I upgraded to PSPX9 (from X2) and loaded it on my new pc.

I have a font viewer (Font Xplorer) not yet installed on my new computer but think that will be my next job. I will check out the The Font Thing first tho that sounds an interesting viewer.

Setting up a new computer with all my favourite programs etc has taken the edge off the excitement of finally getting a new pc lol. Nothing works the same or it is not compatible with Win 10.!!
Thanks again for your replies - it makes sense considering the other problems I have had with programs and Win 10.
