How to control which browser is used

Post by e_a_g_l_e_p_i »

I am having issue with PaintShop Pro X9 Ultimate, when I open the program there is a page that is for learning. You can choose from the several tutorials to watch. when I try to open one it trys to open in either Edge or IE, I do not ever use Microsoft's IE or Edge, my default browser is either Firefox or Chrome depending on how I feel that day. I will not use IE or Edge.

Is there a way to set the browser that PaintShop Pro X9 Ultimate uses, as stated above it tries to open in Edge I believe or IE not the default browser I have set. I want to find out how I can set the default browser that PaintShop Pro X9 Ultimate uses.

If you go to the File menu, select Preferences, then File Locations and then Web Browsers, you should be able to set your preferred browser there.

Nope, no luck my Preferences was under settings not not under "file" I checked every line on every tab and there was nothing about setting the browser I want.

There is no "Settings" menu in PSPx9 (Ultimate makes no difference) Preferences is the submenu name, not the dialog. The dialog is File Locations, you're probably in the General Preferences dialog.

Here you can see how my menus look, and the file locations dialog with "Web Browsers" selected and which browsers I have in this list.

However, the web browser in the file locations is used specifically with the image slicer and image mapper commands not with the Welcome Center dialog that pops up.

To answer your question, no there is no way to change this inside PSP. It seems to be built into the program for whatever reason. Either PSP is directly calling IE, or it's using a protocol that's still associated with IE and not just opening a standard browser.

I don't have 9 I have 10 and the Preferences are under "settings" not file like your example. I will have to see if Windows 10 setup Edge for this program only I know my default isn't Edge I have never used it. Here is what I see when I click "file" Oh you were talking PSPx9 I am in the forum for VideoStudio X10

I'm curious as to why you started off saying, in the very first post, PaintShop Pro X9 ultimate if you meant VideoStudio X10. But whatever, sorry we couldn't be of help.

I couldn't find the post I thought I posted in VideoStudio so I looked at all my posts and saw one about the browser and didn't see I had the same issues with PHP X9. if you look at the post it was started months ago I was going to post the VideoStudio one yesterday and thought I did but couldn't find it I just reposted it in VideoStudio. Just a mistake and didn't read the title just saw Browser so since that is my issue with VideoStudio now I just picked that post.
Hope that makes sense... I goofed
