Videostudio X9.5 - 4k video lags when scrolling

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. I've been experimenting editing 4k video footage shot from my drone and when I try to scroll thorough the video to edit it, it's all lagging and choppy. It makes it impossible to edit the video. This is how 1080 HD felt back 10 years ago on Windows 98. But my computer is brand new with roughly $4000 in parts so it's should be blazing and perfect for editing 4k videos. This is frustrating. What is required to edit the video without any lag?

I have a new custom built computer consisting of:

* Asus X99 Deluxe II
* i7-6950X
* GEFORCE GTX 1080
* 64 GB Ram
* Windows 10 Pro

PS: I do run other programs in the background including browsers, photoshop, skype, ftp client. Should I only run VideoStudio when editing?

Good point 4KFuture, I don't do 4K so can't give any 2c.
lets wait for only those very few guys here that work with 4k.

Your pc beats mine and I do 4K editing. Generally the bit rates are key, high bit rates above 90 bps or so are very difficult to handle. You might want to turn proxy files if you insist on running multiple programs while editing. I think Skype and ftp will take a lot of cpu power from your editing.

What is the bit rate of those drone videos?
