The best resolution to scan old photos
I got this great (?) idea of combining my old Sony Video 8 Tapes (which I luckily have recoded to mpgs) with scanned 10*15 cm photos and burning them into a video DVD. Now I cannot figure out, which resolution to use when scanning the old photos. I have a 48’’ UHD tv and so far all my test DVDs show to more or less “striped” or flickering photos. Can anyone help me, please.

Re: The best resolution to scan old photos
When I digitized our old photos, I used a 16MP GH4 camera to take a photo of the old photos. We wanted the highest quality possible, and this is what I recommend to you.
If all you want is the minimum resolution needed, then you need to know what your rendered (Share) video resolution is and that would be it. Most new TV's are 1920x1080, but newer TV's are 4K: 3840x2160. However DVD's are not keeping up with where video is going. I recommend you transition to using USB thumb drives to play your videos.

Re: The best resolution to scan old photos
Thank you so much. That sounds like a good idea. I tried that but the problem now seem to be the slightly structured surface of the (matt) photos, which seems to become more clearly visible now than when scanning the photos. I tried to get rid of it with using Photoshop but it did not help much.
