It looks like X9.5 is worse than X9.

I cleaned out X9.5 and installed X9 and it lags a little bit - maybe usable -, but when I allowed the X9.5 update it's so laggy that you can't use it.

Just learning about Event Viewer, and an Error it has is :-

Failed extract of third-party root list from auto update cab at: <http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/m ... ootstl.cab> with error: A required certificate is not within its validity period when verifying against the current system clock or the timestamp in the signed file.

Any ideas?

I never update to 19.5 either ,but for different reason.
I'm sticking to 19.2 .

I've got the boxed X9 coming, so it might help, but boy does it nag you to update all the time.

I made a mistake going for Videostudio, I should have gone for Pinnacle.
In my testing a couple of year ago I found out that VS was buggy, poor support, but fast. Pinnacle didn't have many bugs, had good support, and was nearly as fast. And Sony was rock solid, but pretty slow. I've been messaging other people that had problems with VS when they trialled it, and they pretty much switched to Pinnacle. Another day slogging it out with VS.

pinnacle isn't clean with issues, but indeed one wants some basic stability from a software.
I hope your boxed VS is the plain X9, install it and install only SP2 to get you going.
If you know your way in windows you can stop the update nag.
**I still think your gpu is not up for proper work.

I don't know, because the GPU is fine with X7 and an E8500. I don't know if the GPU does much because it only has to display a small window for the player, and when you look at the X7/E8500 it barely reaches 14% CPU when editing where as X9 on the E8500 is always 99-100% CPU when it's confused.

I'm thinking there might be some Win7 update thing. I was looking at file Srv2.sys, which is a high CPU fault with a hotfix. Mine is 2010 and the updated one is 2013, but the problem is that it only comes in SP1, and since I have already SP1 it won't let me update it because SP1 is already loaded.

Have you ever loaded those Convenience Win7 updates?

EDIT
I just checked the GPU load on the X9/E8500 and it it's so low when it's in confused mode that it doesn't even register anything, it always says 0%. Just clicking on the monitor software GPU-Z it reads 5%. These programs just don't need high power machines to edit, it only needs high power in rendering if you want it done fast.

I'm now thinking it's not the update - did you know the size of Win7 updates is bigger than Win7 it'self -, because when I go to render the file it shows errors.

If I render the same as the the file it does it in about 1 sec with no errors.
If I render it in X9's MPEG-4 standard it stops at about 5% and I get "This format is supported only in Win7, Win8, and Win10", and then when I close it it says "Frame 187 is unreadable".

EDIT
Then again it fails on different frames.

Old gray, why you insist on using OBS and screen capture at 60P?

Because I don't want to have to rerecord a bunch of videos I've already done. It does the same thing with MPEG4 H.264 ACC 1080p 30fps also.

I found something else. As soon as you move the cursor line in the timeline it damages that video file, don't touch anything and it's fine.

Old gray, don't re-record them just convert them to more usable format and get going.

That is pretty much what I had to do with that other file I had 4 years ago that Coral contacted me 2 years latter about - that file worked fine in Pinnacle and Sony but not X7 -.

These new files work fine in X7 and your PCs - as far as we know the files could be totally fine -, but why is it not working in 2 of my PCs.

I should've just edited them all in X7 trial, but I thought I would do the right thing and pay for it because if no one pays for stuff we will lose what we like. You can tell I'm a fanboy because I purposely stick with a product that I know has constant problems.

It's better to stay with problems you know than to switch to a software were the problems are unknown ... yet.

Well that makes 3 PCs.

Tried it on a Alienware i7 960, GT610, with a fresh install of Win 7 64, and it's the same.

I can't figure out why it doesn't work on my 3 Win7, and it's fine on your Win7 Pro, and what did they did to X8, X9 because X7 is perfect.

So why don't you use X7? what's in X9 you so badly need for your projects?

X7 is more than I need so I would be happy with that, it's just finding a copy now it's not available anymore.

I think I will try to sell X9 when it comes because I don't think Corel would solve this mystery in good time.
