Hello all,
I see some good templates in several of the pre-made FastFlick options. I would like to use the elements from about 3 of the FastFlick automatically generated files but I don't know how to merge files (or copy and paste various effects from one VSP into another), as I'd like them to be consolidated into one VSP file that I can edit. Currently what I've been doing is working via 1 of the FastFlick VSPs (and then closing the working VSP, going back to another VSP to take screenshots of all the track/transition parameters, then going back to the original VSP file). It's painstaking as it's taking significantly longer than I think it should. Thanks in advance.

I am sorry but I don't really understand what you are trying to do. VS X9 and FastFlick are two different programs and they have different project files, vsp for VS X9 and vfp for FastFlick. You cannot merge project files from VS X9 with FastFlick or viceversa

Thanks for the quick response.
Ok, using VS X9, there is an option within the program to load FastFlick, load your media, and then have it save the file as an editable .vsp file in VS X9.
To simplify, let's forget FastFlick altogether (that is not relevant to the core question). Can you merge two VS X9 .vsp files OR at least copy and paste from one into the other? This seems like such a basic task and that would be helpful for any user trying to take parts from a previously edited file and applying them to a new project file.

First have you looked at the Templates in VS? Most that Fast Flick uses are also found in VS. Click on the 2nd from the top icon on the toolbar between the Preview window and Library. It looks like a magic wand with a star on it. This will open up the Templates Library. The templates will have placeholders with numbers on them. You drag and drop your image or video clips while holding down the Control key, to one of these place holder clips. It's not as automated as Fast Flick, more work involved, but since your going about your production the way you are, I think you would be better off just starting in VS.
With that said, if you really want to keep working the way you are, you can sort of. What you need to do, and I do believe you are already, in Fast Flick, choose the Open in VS option. Once in VS, save your project, which is a VSP file. Then close VS, go back to Fast Flick, select another template, choose the Open in VS option. Once again save that project. I haven't tried this in a long time, several versions ago, but it used to be you could "nest" projects in another project. To do this start a new project, then go to the Media Library and choose to insert media, just like inserting photos or video clips. However this time navigate to your Saved VSP files (VideoStudio Project). Select them to add them to your library. Now all you need to do is drag and drop a VSP file onto the timeline. Be advised that you need to have enough tracks opened up when you do this. You would drop one VSP file behind the other, just like adding additional clips and photos.
Try that and see if that's what you want to do.

Re: Merge VSP project files? (for VideoStudio X9)
Thank you Ron!
Regarding the templates, I will have to check again. I thought there was only a smaller subset of the templates (compared to FastFlick), but maybe I just need to go through them again. I'll do that as the next step.
In regard to inputting two FastFlick generated files together in VSP, good point on making sure there are enough tracks (I hadn't done that). When I had previously tried concatenating both FastFlick files in VS Pro, I had one VSP nested into the other VSP (where only one of the projects was editable and the other was just a continuous, non-editable project, which wasn't what I wanted). Anyway, I'll play around here. Thanks for your input again.

Re: Merge VSP project files? (for VideoStudio X9)
Ron - I ended up going through every single template in VS (I think I only went throw a subset of the folders before). This was exactly what I needed (there were 3 files that I've dropped in and video editing is going so much more seamlessly than me designing all of the effects/transitions). Thank you.
