Adding an FX freezes play button

Post by Techkey »

So, working away at my project with my new VideoStudio X9 which I switched to recently. I like a lot about it but I'm starting to run into some glitches.

First it was that startup bug which I "fixed" by turning off the internet. It since has started working properly again.

Now though, for the first time I am adding an FX to a slideshow. As soon as I add the FX to a second track, my ability to "play" is frozen. Push the triangle, nothing. To get it back I have to exit and come back in. As soon as I then add or edit the FX... the play button breaks again. Seems I am able to do everything else though - edit the FX, etc. Just can't preview it.

Playing with it some more, just tried moving an FX to another track... the whole thing disappeared yet, it's still there... just not visible. Strange.

I'm going to

Hi

If you are creating a slide show, what type of images are you using?
Then the FX filter, there are quite a lot and some do slow down editing / rendering, so which ones are you using?
Have you applied any other affects to your clips?

What type of effect are you trying to create, maybe we can suggest a better option

I'm also having a problem with the playback freezing but I don't find it's linked to the FX - at first I thought it was adding text doing it but it could be adding any overlays that does it. I end up saving/reopening about once a minute, quite pain in the wotsit..
I have a brand new X9, and I'm running Win 7 on a Dell Latitude laptop using two screens (in case that makes a difference!)

UPDATE: Maddeningly, I've reopened the project that gave such trouble yesterday and I cannot recreate the problem, aarrggh. Maybe the program gets tired after an hour of use :-) I haven't even rebooted since the problems of yesterday. Puzzling.

Happy to see it resolved itself. Without some additional information we can hardly provide any meaningful help. So if you still have this problem and need help, provide some additional information for us to work with. The information needed can be found in a thread to the top of this forum Read this Before Posting...

Thank you.
