Corel Video Studio Pro X9 unable to launch on Windows 10

Post by mdax23 »

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and Corel Video Studio Pro X9 but after installed, the program cannot initialized.

The splash screen will start loading for 5-10min but the application did not launch. When I check task manger, Corel VSP automatically shut down.

I am on Windows 10 / 64bit

May I know how to go about? Thx.

And the same program - Corel VSP X9 when install in my old Windows 7 PC did not have this problem.

Hi mdax23
And welcome to the forums.

How are you installing the program, using the Web Installer or manually by double clicking Setup.exe?
Is your version the download version or disc version?

Things you can try………….

Reset the program by re-naming the folder 19.0 to “19.0copy”

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0

Then turn off your internet connection.

Try launching the program, right click VS icon and Run as Administrator.

If the program does not start try re-installing the program
To uninstall use the VSX9_Cleanup tool from here:-

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847

Then delete the folder
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0

Try running the program again.

And if it does not start, I just don’t know what else to suggest, you should contact Corel Support for their thoughts on this matter.

Hi,

I'm having the same problem on my MS Windows 7 Professional version. The strange thing is that it worked last night but, today it gets to the opening screen and just hangs there until it "times-out." It offers NO advice. It does throw up an error message "Get All items failed, result = 100".

Will the steps to fix Windows 10 still be a solution for my system? I hope so.

I located this in my Windows tools/Event Manager. I don't know if it will help, or not.

I am having the same iss "Get All Items failed, result = 100" at start up. I am on Windows 10. It was working 2 hours ago, the program crashed while creating a video project. Restart hangs with error. Reboot didn't fix things. Please tell me Corel knows what the fix is there are many posts and unclear if anything real. A couple threads referenced a hotfix but the url links invalid now.

I am having the same problem. Windows 10, VS9.5.

Just finished maybe 16 hours working on a project, got to 43% rendered, and the program froze. I tried to restart, and after a couple minutes (loading off an SSD), I get the error message GET ALL ITEMS FAILED, RESULT = 100.

I hope and pray my 16 hours didn't just go up in smoke.

Hi friends,

I've had a problem which started today where VSX9.5 refused to load with the error "Get all items failed, result = 100"

I've fixed it temporarily by blocking the internet access to the program using the windows firewall.

I'm not sure whether this will help you, but worth a shot

Thanks!

Hi wsalopek,

I tried a portion of what Lata suggested in his post:
Things you can try………….

Reset the program by re-naming the folder 19.0 to “19.0copy”

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\19.0

Then turn off your internet connection.

Try launching the program, right click VS icon and Run as Administrator.
It worked but only partially. The VS X9 program now loads again and even let's me choose a previous project file properly. However, VS seems to have lost ALL of my custom folders, each of which contained images, avi files, music -- everything! Now I'm wondering if there's some location on my hdd where those custom folders might still exist? I do not want to lose all of that work and start over. I'm hoping that someone might be able to determine the actual cause of this program failure. If one isn't found then how can I avoid doing again (whatever I might have done to cause the problem), in the future?

I'm sorry that you lost all the work you had done.

You all are not alone. I've had the same thing happen. If someone else logs in with this same message I'd suggest sit tight, until we see what Corel has to say. I'm thinking it has nothing to do with our install of the program. Not sure what it is, but it has to be something on their end. They use Protexis Licensing to check the validity of the program. It periodically checks, phones home if you will, to protect against pirated versions. Since this is wide spread, my guess it is this.

The only workaround until the issue is fixed, is to disconnect from the internet, then VSX9.5 will launch

That would confirm it to me anyway, it's their Piracy protection, Protexis. I fired an email off advising what's happening. Hopefully they will jump on it.

Seeing others get this message, I decided to test my X9 which was working fine yesterday. After an even longer wait than usual, with the splash screen blocking the screen, it finally quit leaving nothing but that error message.

Corel have responded that their IT area is working on it and hope to have a fix very soon.

I just confirmed with me anyhow, it is Protexis Licensing. I recalled from years ago there was a problem. What I just done, was open Task Manager, go to the Services tab, scroll down and locate PSI_SVC_x64 the Description to the right will say, Corel License Validation Service V2 x64, Powered by arvato, there may also be another one just above it, basically states the same, but it does not have the x64 bit, hence the x64 is for 64-bit OS.
Right-Click on it to select, then from the pop-up menu choose STOP. This will stop the service, and VS will run. You will not have to disconnect from the internet to run VS.

Just remember that, so when Corel fixes it you can go back and start it again. OR The service may automatically start after you shut down/re-start your computer.

Thanks for the tip but, I did as you suggested and VS-X9 still hangs at opening screen. Note: I changed it to read "Stop." It accepted that then I simple closed Task Mgr. Should I have done something else AFTER closing Task Mgr? Just wondering.

EDITED: Ignore this post, please.
