Ulead's MSP 7 Upgrade Offer for August

Post by maddrummer3301 »

I purchased MSP 5 many years back and still have the disks and the documentaion (original box). Ulead has an offer now for the boxed version for $149.00.
According to the upgrade installation procedure the previous version should be installed before installing the new MSP7 version.
Question I have is does the MSP5 program have to be installed, because on some products you point the installation to the old version CD and it reads
the key from the original CD.
I'm very hesitate to install such an older program on xp that was written for 95 and NT4. The other ulead products will most likely conflict anyway.

Thanks,

i bought the upgrade last week, and from Version 6 I did not have to have it installed, just inserted the CD when prompted.

I also bought VS9, and had to install the prior version of that though. The CD I had was a bundle CD from my graphics card and so it wouldn't auto verify it :( As you have the original boxed version it should be alright (insert disclaimer here - though should doesn't mean will ;))

BTW I know you've listed the boxed version there at $150. Just FYI, the shipping charges are quite high on their products. I was also interested in getting the boxed version since I like having the manual and original disc etc

But then I noticed the UK site has the downloadable upgrade for 43quid (you wouldn't pay VAT), which works out around about $75.

I'm in AUS and ended up getting MSP7 Upgrade, VS9 Upgrade, PhotoImpact 10 Upgrade (based on MSP) and DVD Movie Factory 4 Creator Upgrade (based on mf2 in MSP7). All this cost around the same as getting MSP on it's own from US site - and I'm on dialup! I also got all the content, it ended up being around 2Gb so took best part of a week to grab it all but got main programs first so I could play straight away and then all addin content later. I then created a nice DVD label for the disc, a so a whole suite for around the same cost ;)

Im not sure why, but UK prices are far cheaper just now, PI10 upgrade was only 10quid, MSP 43quid, VS9 17quid & MFC4 17quid too - definetely the way I'd recommend. (And as you'll see from my post count, it's my first post so I signed up specifically to let you know you could save quite a bit of coin ;))

I currently own VS9 and am happy with program so far...

question: is it worth spending $99 USD to get MediaStudio Pro 7? I would primarily be interested in better performance (improved rendering quality), audio editing, and dvd authoring. Do I get that much better features with MediaStudio Pro 7?

Well, audio editing is rather primitive, in fact the whole package is somewhat dated - but, for the price it's worth trying.
I upgraded from MSP6.5 just 3 weeks ago and paid $249 - the sillyest thing I've done for a while.

if you're not happy with it, is there not a 30-day satisfaction guarantee so you could maybe return it and then buy it again for $99 now. doesnt stipulate what you're not happy with, so the price could maybe count ;)
