I have been attempting to create a label for discs. I want to select a frame from a clip in the existing video. I can find no way to do this and there is nothing I can find in the help manual. I'm not entirely sure how to create a disc label. Is there a tutorial?
Further, I have some vertical clips which were taken with an ordinary camera with video capability. Is there some way in which I can rotate these to ensure compatibility with the other horizontal clips in the timeline. Many thanks, Rolly.

Re: Labels for DVD's
Doesn't what I posted only a couple of days back not work for you then - what goes wrong when you do this
So - open the Create disc module ("Share >> Disc >> DVD)
-- - if the video you want to use a frame from is not in the small timeline - use the icons at top left to import the video you want to use a frame of - the left one imports videos .
- - select the video in the Create Disc timeline
- - -slide the white slider on the white line just under the preview window back and forth until the frame you want to use is showing
- - - click on the print label icon (looks like a little printer)
- - - the print label window will open showing the selected frame for printing
- - - adjust the size and exact position of the image before clicking on 'print'
What goes wrong ? - - where ?

Images can be rotated in the timeline by selecting it - opening the 'Options' panel - and clicking on the "Rotate left" or "Rotate right" icons as appropriate
you really should post additional questions as new posts - then you might find it less confusing

Re: Labels for DVD's
Thank you, Brian.
I have sorted out composing the label but the DVD label sheets that I have are designed to print a label for a cassette with its associated bits and pieces etc. I have attempted to print the labels but it is hopeless trying to centralise the print over the central press out on the sheet. Are there labels specifically for VS that will print out directly onto the centre part of the label to ensure that it fits over the disc correctly to press out? Trying to make adjustments on the X Y axes seem almost impossible. I have attempted it but the print out comes in exactly the same place as the generic indication shows in the print label construction dialogue box. I have tried using the template for various papers but this doesn't seem to work either.
My apologies for all these queries but I'm feeling my way quite a bit here. I'm sure that it shows! I do appreciate your assistance.
Rolly.

Re: Labels for DVD's
you are trying to print a round CD label onto a square cassette paper - and wonder why it is not lining up ?????????
Yes there are special papers to print labels in Videostudio - they are all listed in the "paper sizes" drop down in the label creator -- the ones you want MUST - - repeat MUST -- be the CD label types with two round circles on them as shown in the small template indicator under the 'paper choices'
to print CD labels - - and this applies to almost every ;label printing software you need to use paper which is marked with circles to match a CD
You must use a paper which looks something like my image - preferably from the manufacturers and types listed in the Videostudio label printer

Re: Labels for DVD's
Thank you, Brian.
I guessed that must be the case. The DVD papers that I have are self adhesive but have a different layout to the ones you have shown. I will have to get the ones you describe. A pity as I have about a hundred of them. Trouble is, on the internet there is little or no indication of the layout of the paper and there is nowhere locally that does DVD or CD labels. We shall persevere.
Again, thanks for your help and if I don't call on you again, A Merry Christmas and a fit and Happy New Year. Rolly.

Re: Labels for DVD's
It is usually quite obvious online what papers you are buying -- they are all self adhesive - one very important point - the label must be fixed centrally or else the DVD will be off balance
this is just one example of available labels --- --- http://www.neato.com/CD-DVD-Labels/
the website gives you many choices .....

Many thanks. I found some on Amazon that seem to fit the bill. Rolly.
