False update prompt
Today PSP X9 (19.1.0.29) kept prompting me to download/installe Service Pack 3!
When I let it, it said, not unsurprisingly, that the update wasn't necessary but still prompted me later to update again!
How can I stop this?

Re: False update prompt
Happens here too. Every day. Every time I close the application. Is there a new update or not?

Re: False update prompt
If you have version 19.1.0.29 then no there isn't.
I did get a reply from technical support who advised me rename the Messages folder:
"
1. First, we will need to open up a run prompt in Windows.
Hold down the Windows Key on your keyboard and then at the same time press the letter "R" on your keyboard.
2. Once the run prompt is displayed type %appdata% and then click on "OK".
3. Locate and open the Corel folder
4. Rename the Messages folder. Right click on the messages folder and select rename to rename the folder.
For example: rename to OldMessages.
"
Seems to have worked so far!

Re: False update prompt
Thanks for this solution. I had the annoying message to update (and then the message that I already have the latest build) 4 times today.
PSP X9 update notice - but already updated
Hi,
I have bought two PSP X9 Ultimate programs and installed them recently and all seemed ok, I bought and downloaded the software recent from Corel and the download version I installed is 19.1.0.29 but I'm getting a pop up advising me to update to the latest update 3 v 19.1.0.29 despite me already having this installed. Both computers do the exact same thing, trying to install the update results in it saying it's not necessary but every time I use and close the software it reminds me to update.
I've looked on here for a solution and the closest thing I saw was about script update issues and installing a python update (I tried but no change)
Is there anything likely to cure this bug?

Re: False update prompt
Have you tried the fix of renamimg the Messages Folder that I posted as recommended by Tech Support earlier in this thread?
Re: False update prompt
Hi, thanks I've just tried it and it solves the problem on one of my computers but not the other computer!leahcimi wrote:Have you tried the fix of renamimg the Messages Folder that I posted as recommended by Tech Support earlier in this thread?
Both are running Win 10 Pro and are fairly new and untrashed computers, both were clean installs of the latests version of PSP X9 and each has it's own licence so all legit.

Re: False update prompt
Just so you know, the EULA for PSP allows one licence to apply on three separate computers. So all would have been legit even if you had loaded the same licenced program onto your two computers. In other words, with two licences, you could have PSP on up to 6 computers and all would be legit!dedubya wrote:...each has it's own licence so all legit.

I thought I read that only 1 PC was allowed per licence - I couldn't install my older PSP X3 on more than one PC at a time - oh well I did get it for a very low price price so not the end of the world!

Re: False update prompt
AFAIK the PSP EULA has always allowed installation on up to three machines, though only one is supposed to be run at a time! Beware the Corel EULA police~
It is Video Studio whose EULA only permits installation on one machine -- apparently because Corel has to pay royalty to codec owners based on the number of installations allowed.

Re: False update prompt
The Tech Support recommended tip isn't working for me. Getting the 'Download update now!' dialog box following each program closing. Everything was OK (no prompts for a long time) before I checked for updates. Where does Corel store a post-update-check 'cookie' that triggers this new annoying prompt?
Update: This seems to have worked. I deleted the 'Messages' folder in this directory instead and the regenerated message folder doesn't seem to trigger the update prompt anymore.
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Corel\Messages

Re: False update prompt
The 'fix' worked for me . . . . until this morning! The prompts have started to reappear after closing PSP again!
Have renamed the Messages folder again which seems to have cured things . . . for now!
I think Windows 10 may have done a sneaky update over the weekend so this may have something to do with it!

Re: False update prompt
Hi All,
Sorry for making your inconvenience in past days. We've found the root cause and correct the issue from the server side. The fix will be published in 2 hours later (now it's 10:25 pm at Taipei) and you don't need to do anything from the client side. After the time point, if you still encounter the "Update Message" display, please back to here and raise your hand, we will treat it as the 1st priority to check it. Thank you for your understanding.
