According to MS website WinXP Pro requires a minimum of 128Mb ram.
Ulead VS8 recommends at least 512Mb Ram. So just adding those together you would need at least 640Mb of ram. That does not take into account any other utilities, or any background apps.
I would recommend 1Gig of ram, however up until 6 mos ago was running WinXP Home, with UVS8 just on 512Mb. Rendering was real slow.
It can be done with the lesser amounts of ram, however your processor then needs to utilize virtual memory (hard drive page file). This always slows down the process.
