I purchased VS Pro X9 yesterday and tried to install it (via download) to my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit system...
I repeatedly got an Error Message (minus any Error Code) during the installation that "The program has encountered an error and
could not install...."
Gee, that's REALLY helpful, Corel! Thanks for the tip off!
I've been able to install plenty of other programs to my system--have any other VS Pro users encountered this problem, and
do you know the solution to this problem?
Thanks in advance to your responses.

Re: VS Pro X9 Fails To Install....
I agree with you that error message is not helpful at all. It's going to be difficult to "fix" an unknown problem like this. I'll just give you some ideas to pursue and others in the forum will likely have more ideas.
Your panel says you have a 32 bit system, but your post says you have a 64 bit system; I assume you have a 64 bit system and just have not updated the panel. But wanted to make sure about this.
Are there other VS versions installed? Not sure this would explain the issue, but wanted to know as much as possible about your system.
Have you allowed Microsoft to keep your system and drivers updated? If not, perhaps doing so would solve the issue.
Do you have enough hard drive space available for the install? Enough memory? Display resolution? Read the system requirements for VS to run to check it against your system.
I'll post more ideas as I come up with them.

Re: VS Pro X9 Fails To Install....
I now have a 64-bit system with significant hardware upgrades.
My currently installed version of VS Pro X7 is 32-bit.
Windows 7 Pro seems to be very sparing on updates--looking to remedy this.
I have plenty of HD space, ditto memory!!! My video card is still an ATI Radeon HD 5700.
Very annoying that VS Pro X9 can't install to a highly upgraded PC!

Hi
How are you trying to install, via the web installer or manually?
Some things to try.
Please download the Cleanup tool from here, run to make sure there are no leftover files from your install attempts.
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
Manually Install
locate the download folders \64bit\Ultimate, maybe Pro
double click the Setup .exe to install the main program
Does that install ok?

I trust that using the Cleanup Tool won't affect my already-installed copy of VS Pro X7....?

Hi
There is a Cleanup tool for each version, provided you run the X9 tool it should not affect X7.
If you do not wish to try that simply try manually installing the program.

Re: VS Pro X9 Fails To Install....
I was finally able to install successfully by downloading the Install file, then manually installing the program itself.
I now plan to uninstall the X7 version.
Thanks.

I had the same problem as the OP, followed your advice and it worked. The cleanup tool seems to be what did it.
Thanks...

P.S. Can I uninstall my V7 to free up disk space without harming the V9.5 installation? Thanks...

Hi Bill
Yes you should be able to remove X7 without affecting X9
I would advise that you complete your projects made with X7, sample files and filters used in X7 may be removed and affect the projects.
