black screen on playback preview in edit mode

I have set the preferences/instant playback target to preview window and have checked for the latest drivers for my video card and all I get is black screen and sound when I hit play. I am running a brand new laptop with plenty of CPU power and memory. Playback on my old desktop works fine. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks.

Have you tried updating your DirectX drivers? Try updating it using this site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx. If this still didn't work, try reinstalling your videostudio together with your updates. ^_^
