VS X8 DVD problem
I have made a slideshow with music and burned it straight to DVD. The video plays ok on my PC but not on my DVD BluRay player. I thought it was because it is on a DVD.RW but have played these before on this player. It plays ok but at the same point the audio stops and the rest plays ok. I have burned this short video about 6 times using MPEG format but the same thing happens.I have also burned it on a DVD R without any luck.
I have tried other music but the same thing happens.
Any help appreciated as this is for someone who has had a bereavement and it it full of memories.
Thanks

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Does this mean you have assembled the photos and music in the timeline, then gone to Share and chosen DVD as the output? That should work, but as you may have seen in other posts, sometimes it doesn't. That is why some of us recommend that when you finish your editing, instead of jumping straight to the disc option, you try first going to Share and choosing the MPEG-2 option. If your project runs for less than an hour, then you can accept the default settings for MPEG-2 and this will produce a new video clip which is DVD-compatible. You can then play this back on a software media player to reassure yourself that it all looks and plays OK.girly wrote:I have made a slideshow with music and burned it straight to DVD.
Then start a new project -- don't bother with giving it a name, the objective is just to clear the timeline. Then go to Share and select DVD. When the burning module opens, its timeline should be empty. If there is anything there, delete it. Then go to the Add Media button in the top left of the burning screen and add your new DVD-compatible mpeg-2. Click on the Project Settings icon (second from left in bottom left of the burning screen) and make sure the box beside "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked. Then build your menu and burn.
Instead of burning an actual disc at this point, you might want to consider "burning" an ISO file or DVD Folder instead. These are exact replicas of what would be on a DVD, and again you can play them to make sure everything went correctly in the "burn". Once satisfied, you can burn the ISO or Folder to an actual disc. If it's an ISO, then VS itself has a tool for that. Or you can use a program like Nero, Roxio or the freeware ImgBurn which can burn both ISOs and DVD Folders to disc.

I have it on timeline and then go to share and click MPEG 2 so it makes a video file. I have also tried burning it straight to DVD. I have played the mpg file on my pc and it is ok. When I play it on the DVD player the music stops at a certain point.

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
I am not sure if it is just the way your putting it - or whether you are not doing it correct
to me your post implies you just make an mpeg-2 file and burn that straight to DVD - is that right ?
can you confirm that in fact after creating the mpeg-2 you then open the disc icon and select DVD - then when the burning module opened do you make sure you import the new mpeg-2 file and continue using the burning module to create your DVD
if you look at the file structure on the DVD in file explorer do you see a Video_TS folder and inside that folder do you see any .vob . .IFO , .BUP files ?.

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
When i have completed the VSP project i share and choose Mpeg which makes an mpg file which i burn to a disc which played ok on my pc. I have also gone to share and chose DVD and burned it straight
to disc which again plays ok on pc.
Neither of these discs start playing on my dvd player but at the same point each time the audio stops.

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Please answer Brians question about what files you see on the DVD. What is the process you use to burn the mpg file to DVD. PLease explain it step-by-step.
"Neither of these discs start playing on my dvd player but at the same point each time the audio stops."
The above sentence doesn't make any sense. If the discs do not play then how can the audio stop?

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
1. I complete project which contains photos/transitions and 2 MP3 files. the project is only 4.29.11 long
2. I go to share and choose MPEG2 which renders to an mpg file
3. I burn this onto a DVD using Burning Studio 16 which I always use and choose create/movie slideshow DVD.
4. I watch the DVD on my PC and it is fine.
5. I load it into my DVD player to watch on TV and at 3.44 the music stops and it continues to the end without sound.
6. I have also done the above and chose straight to disc but the outcome is the same.
7. The file on the disc is video TS
8. I have tried changing the music and wasted a disc as the outcome is the same.

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
So it is not a problem with Videostudio - or any Corel product at all
you say Videostudio produces an mpeg-2 file which plays without problem on your computer - but then you choose another companies product to make your DVD's - - - what can we do ??
If you used the Videostudio disc burner we may be able to suggest changes to settings - I would certainly suggest making a disc image file (.iso) which would play on your computer just like a DVD to avoid wasting any more discs - then only when we had that right we would just copy it to disc - a straightforward process - but I have no idea what settings burning studio has or how it works

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Thanks I have just made another disc this time a DVDR (the other were DVDRW) and this one has 2 files video file and audio file).
If I make an .iso file which works on my PC how will that solve anything. The other discs work on my pc fine but not on my DVD player.
I will make an .iso file anyway and let you know
Thanks
I have my ISO file and the music stopped playing at the point I said previously. What can I do now please

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
OK - so you created your .iso file - did you then play the .iso file using the free VLC player ??
now as I said before the iso file is a disc image file - not just a movie file - when played in VLC whatever it does there WILL happen on the disc - because the .iso file is copied to the disc using the utility in Videostudio accessed by going to "Tools >> Burn from Disc Image (ISO)"
creating an iso file and playing it in VLC means you do not have to burn a disc to see if the disc will work - if the VLC playback is good the disc will be good if burn't from the iso - saves wasted disc (coasters they are known as - since their only use is to stand your drinks on)
So you seem to be saying the music still stops in the .iso when played in VLC
in which case there is a problem with the music you have used - does a new music clip start at the point the sound stops ?
have you uses mp3 or .wav music clips

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
I played it in VLC and it stopped at the same point as the disc stopped on my DVD player. I have used MP3 files and that is the last music clip on the video.
There are only 2 MP3's on there and I changed the order of play but it still stops at the same point. Why does it play ok on my PC from the burned disc?

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Hi
Just to check your workflow
As Brian suspects you appear to be having audio problems maybe associated with MP3 audio, please convert all MP3 audio to Wav and replace in project.
1 / edit your project, play the project to check its content and quality, especially the audio content.
2 / Share Mpeg2 to create a DVD compliant video file.
3 / Play that video to check quality, any problems?
4 / Start a new project, nothing in the timeline. This is important, nothing in the timeline
5 / Share Disc DVD opens the burner module.
6 / top left for insert video, choose the one created in 2 above.
7 / Create a menu
8 / last panel , choose to create a Disc Image ISO file, deselect Create to Disc.
9 / Burn, the process should start with Convert menu, please confirm this is the case.
10 / Play the ISO file using VLC Media Player.

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Does it always stop with the same audio clip?
Have you tried with a different audio clip? With no audio clips?
The fact that the DVD plays correctly on your PC shows that the DVD was created correctly and the problem may be with your DVD player. Have your tried on a different DVD player?

Re: VS X8 DVD problem
Thanks I have it sorted now. It was a faulty MP3 and got another version and made an ISO which was OK so now it plays ok on my DVD player.
