Rendering half speed

Post by dmz »

Hi,
I just finished a project and when I render it the file comes out at half speed even though I havent configured it to do so.
I have tried using the 'same as first clip' and 'same as project' and even customised the output format and it still renders the entire thing at half speed.
Why would this be?
I am running the latest X9.
Cheers
David

the properties of the original file and of the rendered file may help us to answer that question

please put them in the timeline of Videostudio - Right click on each one and choose "properties" from the pop-out - screen shot/copy that property box and post it on here please

Hi,
I dont know how to post a screen shot here. what may help is that my project consists of over 100 thumbnails which originate from dozens of original videos. The vast majority are avi files from one of my camcorders, but it also includes mpg files from dubbing of VCRs and mov files from canon cameras. It would be near impossible to post them all!
Is this a problem due to having a project containing source files from different sources?
Thanks

this explains how to add an image to your posts here - - http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=57659

If you are using settings like "same as first clip" and "same as project settings" does the first clip in the timeline have the correct properties for the rest of the videos -

so what are the properties of the first clip

what properties did you set to render the file

what are the properties of the final rendered file do all the clips play slowly when rendered or are some correct and some slow

I am using the properties of the first clip to render as above.
Most of my files in the project are like the above.
However, some are like this:

All the clips play slowly.

The attachments didnt seem to be placed in the order! Most of the files are avi and they are the properties I used to render. Some are the mpeg2s.

Hi David

The two samples look bog standard to me, on their own…………..
AVI appear to be DV.AVI from a Mini DV camcorder, should have no problems in editing those types.
The Mpg again looks ok although 4:3 not 16:9

However the AVI is Lower Field First, with the MPG being Upper Field First
I would not think that is the problem but mixing those formats may impact on quality?????

What are your project properties? Settings project properties, if same as the two images, which one, otherwise give us another screen shot.

OK
I would set the Project Properties to match the AVI video properties.
I would then create a DV-Avi template (settings Movie Profile Manager) using the Add function to browse for the AVI.
Then Share – AVI, choose your new template from the Profile list. using that template to render the project
That will create a video file at 13 Gb per hour, quite large.

Play that video to check your quality?

If the quality is acceptable I would convert the new AVI to your output format.
If you are intending burning a DVD that would be Mpeg2. But again match the Field Order

When I dragged the first avi onto the timeline I answered yes to setting the project properties.
I tried the movie profile manager thing and rendered it and it is still half speed.

Very Strange

And if you now add the new video to the overlay track, right click from library and choose insert to overlay, will place that clip from beginning of overlay track, view the end frames, are they the same?.
That is the two clips the same length.
Comparing the properties of those clips should be identical.

And you are sure you have not added speed or time-lapse to this clip, anytime in the past.
Sorry for the daft question but what is happening just does not make sense.

Just in case, locate the AVI on the hard drive and re-name it, add copy to the end.
Import that copy and render again.

I can only suggest that you re-install the program.
When uninstalling choose to remove all personal settings, you may wish to export your library as a backup?

If you wish, upload a sample to a sharing site, Google Drive, dropbox, one drive etc, we can test your file on our pc.

Indecently I have tried rendering some of my own DV-Avi's and they are ok?

I uninstalled removing all personal settings.
I reinstalled and tried again. No luck.
I thought maybe the first clip may be corrupting the whole thing so I removed that clip and tried again. No luck.
I have another project which renders fine. It's just something about this project.
I have not altered the speed - all I have done is to insert clips and cut bits out.
No it doesnt make sense...

put sample SP-V01.mp4 on timeline and render "same as.."
upload that to a site we can D/L and examine.

Hi
Agree “ It does not make sense”

You seem to indicate using an older existing project.
Can you create a new project, add files to the timeline, do not drag and drop from library.
Right click timeline and Insert Video, using same files as in the problem project.
Render the new project, does it show the same slow motion.

Can you zip the VSP file and attach to your post, we may be able to open, although not see the video may reveal something?

This was a brand new project. I started with nothing and dragged files on and spent three hours cutting bits out. When I went to render the problems started.
Now its xmas and I am going away for a month - ill look at it when I get back
very frustrating that this product cannot be relied upon to do a basic editing and rendering job sometimes.
