I have PSP X 9 running Win 8.1 and every time I start PSP for the first time each day t takes about 2 mins to open, if I then turn it off then later in the day turn it back on again it starts up very quick it seems to be only on my first start for the day, any thoughts on this or maybe a solution.
Also does the 'Notify me when a reply is posted' here on the forum really work ?

Re: PSP X 9 slow
I'm only up to x8. But in my experience all versions of PSP take longer to start up first time. Then subsequent start ups are much faster.
I have x8 on two computers. i3 laptop takes about 30 seconds to start up. i5 laptop about 6 seconds. I'm sure that much of the 'delay' is a result of other programs and computer needs. Because it varies so much between users I think you will find it's more a computer issue rather than a PSP issue.
regards

Re: PSP X 9 slow
thanks for the feedback, I have ver 7 on a Win 7 and ver 8 on a Vista machine and all do the same thing so that is why I thought it may net be there computer related problem.
I can get around it by starting PSP as soon as I turn on the system, might even be a good idea to put it in my start up folder, now that's a thought.

Re: PSP X 9 slow
Agree with @brucet to some extent, although I use X7. On my i5 desktop with 8gb RAM and not that many of my plugins installed on this computer yet, it takes about 15 seconds or so the first time I load it, and around 4 seconds after that. It does largely depend on other stuff you might have running in the background (e.g, what loads on Startup plus what you might have also opened, etc.). My previous computer took a couple of minutes the first opening of X7 and still a lot of time for subsequent openings. In other words, usually system specific.

Re: PSP X 9 slow
I just opened X9 and it took about 20 sec. to start - I'm using W10. One suggestion is to watch the messages that scroll through on the splash screen, saying what is going on. You may get a clue as to which operation it bogs down on. Perhaps adjusting what is in Collections may make a difference.wombat100 wrote:I have PSP X 9 running Win 8.1 and every time I start PSP for the first time each day t takes about 2 mins to open, if I then turn it off then later in the day turn it back on again it starts up very quick it seems to be only on my first start for the day, any thoughts on this or maybe a solution.

Regarding the notification of replies, I believe that refers only to private messages that someone may send you. I have that turned on and I receive an email if a message arrives under my ID.

Wombat -- I've looked at your Preferences and the Notify box is checked as "No". I have changed that to Yes so now you should get notifications, if that is what you are after.wombat100 wrote:Also does the 'Notify me when a reply is posted' here on the forum really work ?

Re: PSP X 9 slow
Doing a search provided these threads on slow start up times and some solutions.
