I having a major problem getting VS9 to work with an MSI Theatrix TV card (based on ATi's Theater 550 Pro chip). When I try to do a recording using either composite or S-VHS input, it cuts out after 10-15 seconds. Some video and sound is captured, but an error message pops up advising the video is corrupt. The brief video that is captured plays back fine. Note that both video and audio captured by the card itself.
I have worked round the problem by using Windows Movie Maker which works fine with the card, but only captures to Windows Media Video format. However I would prefer to use Videostudio to capture the video feed so I can record to MPEG2 (for conversion to DVD). I am not too keen about swapping between apps.
Has anyone had better luck than myself and got VS9 to work successfully with an ATI Theater 550 Pro chip based card?

capture card problem
What software was bundled with your MSI Theatrix TV card? Is it VideoStudio or other application aside from Ulead? If it is not the OEM or SE version of VideoStudio 9 you're using, then it is not capable of capturing from your capture card. Since VideoStudio products can only work with devices bundled with them, you can't use VideoStudio in place of what is bundled with your capture card. ^_^

I would stick with the software that comes with the card -- all reports from 550 users that I've seen indicate that UVS doesn't work well with that chipset and the program will eventually freeze or abort the capture:

Any capture device that provides DirectShow / WDM drivers can be used with UVS, like NVIDIA-based VIVO video cards. See if there are updated drivers available for your card.
