X7: Save As Takes Forever

Post by soh555 »

For awhile now I have been experiencing a painfully slow delay whenever I click 'Save As'...like, 15-20 seconds.
I do not have this problem with Photoshop.

Anyone else ever experience this or have any idea what might be the cause?

Thanks :D

F12 save as?

Whenever something like this happens I reset PSP, which cures a lot of things :-)

Save a custom Workspace if you have made one. File>Workspace>Save Workspace or Shift+Alt+S
Close PSP.
Open PSP and hold the Shift key down until you get a message telling you PSP is resetting to it's default settings. Click OK.

The downside: you will need to re-set Preferences and File Locations.

I use x8 on two different laptops. An old i3 running Win 7. 4 gig ram. And a new i5 running Win 8.1. 8 gig ram. Tiff files of around 200 - 400 meg. The save as on the old laptop is about 2 - 3 seconds. The new i5 can take up to 20 seconds.
The only thing I found that was a possible issue was cache clearing.

I now rarely save in PSP rather use Photoline to do the saving, (I use PSP as an external editor from Photoline). PSPx8 20 seconds. Photoline 1 second for the same file. So it's a PSP issue not a computer issue. But why does the old computer save as faster than the newer i5?

Corel?

File-->Save As
F12...no difference, still the lag.

I'll give this a whirl...thanks.
