x9 Ultimat Stop-Motion- lack of manual webcam controls issue

Post by Duck1986 »

Hi,

I bought a new Windows 10 laptop recently, and for the first week it worked perfectly with my Microsoft LifeCam HD-5000. I use this in conjunction with Videostudio x9 Ultimate and stop-motion is my main use. When the programme is open and the camera is in use, it would come up with the LifeCam symbol in the bottom right (hidden icons) tray, which was my cue to use the manual controls for the camera (lighting, exposure, focus etc).

I ran my first batch of Windows updates over the weekend, and blast, when I use stop-motion the camera shows up, but there are no manual controls showing up in the tray, meaning it's essentially on autofocus.

I have tried all the troubleshooting issues listed under LifeCam, such as uninstalling the software, reinstalling as an administrator, uninstalling the driver, reinstalling, rolling back. All to no avail. I've posted on the Microsoft forums in hope that someone has a solution for the camera! I suspect it's something in the camera driver that's at fault, but I wanted to double check I'm not missing any settings in Videostudio that might be causing the problem?

Thanks for any help in advance!

I don't think VS has any settings as it relay on the device driver.
It was a spanking new laptop so why you update 10? did you have major problems with it?

The version of W10 that came with the laptop was 1511. The updates were ready to install so I clicked to update and it put me on 1607. I did it simply because it was there.

I've rolled back and that seems to have fixed the issue, but I'm conscious that probably isn't an ideal long-term solution!

It's the best solution, if it's working fine don't brake it with updates.
