I've just recently start putting short movies together of different events etc. Long story short is I just returned from Australia and my experience is getting better, I was not completely happy with the GoPro editor but it worked well for a complete newb. Bought VS X9 this week.so far I'm liking it. Now comes the question. I was a little fast on the render button. When I viewed the rendered project I was not happy at all. Can I bring that completed project back in or do I have to start all over again?
While I am getting faster, it is still a lot of work as you all know to get to a finished project and do not want to start from the beginning if I don't have to.
Thanks for any help

Re: Newbie here --- render question
Did you do a "File >> Save" before you went to Share and rendered to create a .vsp file ?
If you did then you can just go "File >> Open Project" and select the .vsp file and your project as it was before rendering will open in the timeline and you can do whatever you want before rendering again
but if you did not do a save then I am afraid you need to start again - but always do a "File >> Save" at the end of editing

Re: Newbie here --- render question
Thanks Brian. Guess I am out of luck then because I did not do a save (just had a look) and nothing in the projects file. Its not the end of the world I am just trying to get better at this and I'll know its not right.
I will know better next time though!!

Re: Newbie here --- render question
Just an added tip,
When starting a project go to the File menu and select Save or Save as, then of course provide a meaningful name and location on your system. Then if you have not already done this, go to the Settings>Preferences and check the box for the Auto Save and select a time increment. That way if you forget, and we all do, then at least you will have something close to your completed project and not have to start from scratch.

Re: Newbie here --- render question
Hi Ron
Unfortunately the Auto Save option only saves the latest edits to a cache file, it does not save to the project file.
If we have a crash then rebooting the program will prompt to recover the project, providing the project was saved in the first place.
That recovered project will need saving and given a new name.
When you close Video Studio you will be prompted to save the project, that saves a VSP file., by default to the project folder, but we can choose any location.
From File menu to the bottom of the list are the last 4 used / saved projects, a quick launch for want of a description.
As kintym did not save the project the Auto Save interval is of little use, unless the program crashes that is...

Re: Newbie here --- render question
All this mishap could be avoided if VS prompt the poor man to save his project upon start to render.

The program prompts you to save the project when starting a new project or closing the program, that was ignored, its just a learning curve, next time it will be saved, then no problem.asik1 wrote:All this mishap could be avoided if VS prompt the poor man to save his project upon start to render.
