I wonder if someone could clarify a question about frame rates.
Earlier this year, I made a video from my camcorder and my action cam using X9. The camcorder was set to 1080/50p and the action cam was 30 fps. The resulting video came out perfectly.
How far can I mix frame rates and will VS X9 cope with variable frame rates?

Variable frame rates
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Variable frame rates
Depends. Mixing say 24fps with 30fps and then rendering 30fps may not work well. Generally if there are plenty of frames in your eventual rendered file it should be OK.

Re: Variable frame rates
Hi Terfyn
OK
Ignoring the fact that we have progressive and interlaced video.
If your project properties are set to 25fps and you add a 30fps video then that video will lose frames, one frame in 5 to reduce the rate from 30 to 25, that may cause a blip / pulse in playback.
Whether that is noticeable is in the eye of the beholder.
If the project is set to 30 fps and a 25 fps video used, then that video will have frames added, again may show when played back.
We cannot mix video frame rates without having some issues, panning video will surly show, giving a slight pulse, more static video may not show any problems.
You can view the effect by using Instant Project IP-B10 or IP_B16
Add those to a Pal project using 25 fps and the project playback is not that smooth
Change the project properties to ntsc at 30 fps and it plays ok.

Re: Variable frame rates
When I saw your title, I thought you were talking about VFR (Variable Frame Rate) video such as in a video recorded on an iPhone or some screen capture programs, where the frame rate INSIDE the video is not constant, it varies from scene to scene... which can cause major problems for a video editor
Then I read your message and see that you are really talking about mixing different CFR (Constant Frame Rate) files in one project, which I don't do since I only have one camera
