PSP will not recognize I have Untimate

Post by R Frydryck »

I have been along time customer and just upgraded from PaintShop Pro X8 Ultimate to PSP X9 Ultimate.

I uninstalled my PSP 8x* ultimate before installing X9 ultimate so I it would be a clean install. But after the install the program says I just have PSP 9X and wants me to pay $20 to get Ultimate.

Suggestions?

The PaintShop program is identical in both the so-called Pro and Ultimate versions: no difference at all. It is the third-party extras that come with the package which makes it Ultimate. So if you installed everything you got when you bought it, you will have the Ultimate version, regardless of the fact that the splash screen etc only says PaintShop Pro -- which mine does as well.

There was also no reason to uninstall X8 apart from saving space -- the two versions (and more) sit together quite comfortably and independent of each other.

While your info to the OP is absolutely correct, the question is why he/she seems to be getting some message (if, in fact, that is the case), that a further $20.00 is needed to get the Ultimate extras. Just wondering....

I assume it's just a regular message advert. And it's showing because PSP's message adverts don't actively know what package you bought. Just click on the box for never showing it again.

Thanks for your help. It was just confusing that Corel was trying to sell me something that I already bought.

Another reason they should just discontinue the adverts. They're annoying to start with and, now hearing the info in this thread, they're confusing to purchasers of the product as well. JMHO, of course. :-)

I found them a bit annoying too--until I got one saying I could get VisualStudio X9 Ultimate (list $99.99) for $14.99 and one that I could get PSP X9 Ultimate for $24.99. So I'm willing to live with a few ads for things I either don't want or already bought...

Agreed. I bought my second version of PSP X9 for $32 Australian after seeing a popup after I closed PSP X7. Asked about it on Facebook and they helped me to complete the purchase at that price. Saved me $58. And dismissing them is only a click at start or end.
