vector colors get messed up when saving .PSPIMAGE file

Post by mc_peko »

After saving and re-openings a .PSPIMAGE file, the colors are completely messed up on the large file I'm working on, that has both vector and bitmap.

I've never experienced, nor heard of, this issue before. It started happening a couple of weeks back. Huge problem for me. I have both X8 and X9 installed (as X8 strangely has worse 4K support than X9). The image is 600 DPI and. 6450 x 4740 pixels, 8 bits/channel.

Black becomes orange, green and red. Same with blue. Etc.

EDIT: UPDATE: To not include ICC profile seems to solve the problem! :) I've never seen including / not including ICC make this kind of very strange issues before though. Seems I can continue to work on my project. I though I had checked this several times...

Does this happen with every pspimage file you save, or only some of them? If the latter, what is different about them from the ones where colors save properly?

Happened only with this one file.

Skipping ICC solved the issue. Still, scary stuff, 'cos there's no way to fix it, I think, except manually.

Not a lot of differences, except this file is is rather large and have many layers.

Thanks for you swift, kind reply.

Not sure what you mean by "skipping ICC" because there is no such setting in PSP. Do you mean turning off Enable Color Management in PSP, or changing the profile, or what? If the first, we all do that because PSP does a poor job of Color Management.

Sure is. Save as | Options.

No. But interesting info. I have it on now. I might start to turn that off too then. Thanks.

Ah, you meant that you didn't check "Embed ICC profile". :-) Let us know if disabling Color Management makes any difference, although I suspect that's not the issue given that you said it only happened with this particular file.

That have not produced any difference here that I've seen. Then again, I haven't looked into this a lot. Just a little lately.
