Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Hi
I have now tested on CPSP X9 – 19.0.2.4 X64 before installing updates
No problems in running that script.
Are all problems related to 32 bit installations?

It turns out that the modules are included in the update 1 and/or 2, and if you skip those updates and go directly to update 3, you will be experiencing the issue. There is no difference between 32 or 64 bits installation.

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Just download and install the latest version you can get on the Corel site, and then download the modules here and install them:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/546 ... ackage.exe
That will solve the problem. I don't know if copying from X8 to X9 does the same or not.

Are you saying that installing the PSPX9 PythonPackage cures your script errors using PSP X9 fully patched version?Cassel wrote:Just download and install the latest version you can get on the Corel site, and then download the modules here and install them:

Yes and no. It depends what you mean by "fully patched". If you mean version number 19.1.0.29, it might. It just depends if you added updates 1 and 2 manually, or if you were prompted to only install update 3 (which seems to be the case recently as if update 3 SHOULD have included updates 1 and 2, but does not). Are you saying that installing the PSPX9 PythonPackage cures your script errors using PSP X9 fully patched version?

Aren't you supposed to apply the patches in the order they are released, or are you saying that Patch 3 is supposed to include whatever fixes were supposed to be in Patches 1 & 2?Cassel wrote:It turns out that the modules are included in the update 1 and/or 2, and if you skip those updates and go directly to update 3, you will be experiencing the issue. EDIT: I must have posted this about the same time you were posting your last reply. From that, I gather that Patch 3 did not include patches 1 & 2. If not, then Corel was really sloppy with the Patch 3 release because it should recognize if the previous patches weren't installed and warn the user that they have to be installed first.

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Yes, but it seems that some users get prompted to only install update 3 or are told that there is no update, assuming it is already fully updated (and the version number does show as 19.1.0.29, which would be the latest version). Even one customer who installed from the disk (which means the original version) was only prompted to install update #3. That is what gave me the hint about the updates being skipped.Aren't you supposed to apply the patches in the order they are released, or are you saying that Patch 3 is supposed to include whatever fixes were supposed to be in Patches 1 & 2?

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Hi Cassell
I have posted a Sticky regarding this issue as follows
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 29#p335814
PSP X9 Script error issues.
A problem running scripts using PSP X9 appears to be associated with the update patches.
There are 3 updates usually installed in sequence as they are released.
However for new installations only Update 3 is required and indeed offered via the programs auto updates, Update 3 should include 1 and 2.
Not installing Updates 1 and 2 seems to be causing this problem.
Users are advised to download updates 1 , 2 , 3 in sequence.
Updates can be downloaded from
http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/updates/
then install the program followed by all patches.
Cancel any auto updates that the program throws at you as that will install 3, install updates manually.
PSP X9 install 19.0.0.96
Update 1 version 19.0.1.8 (installing this cured the errors)
Update 2 version 19.0.2.4
Update 3 version 19.1.0.29

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Thanks. Can you specify what the error is so the users won't think that it will fix every possible script error?
ImportError: No Module named random
Or something similar because this bug only affects the modules that are imported so it could be a different name than random. I just noticed that one since many of my scripts use that module so people were emailing me about it, thinking it was an error in the scripts.

Cassel, not sure this is what you need, but I have re-installed the program again and now working ok
But this is the error I saw

OK i am not sure how that message was merged with mine, but yes, if you see, there is the same error mentioning the random module. But it is ok not to specify. Maybe post some examples of what the error might look like?? Just a thought.

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Just some more information from investigations:
I have three laptops - call them L1, L2, L3 and a desktop with 4 switchable system drives call them D1 (XP), D2 (Win7), D3 (Win8.1) and D4 (Win 10).
I downloaded PSP X9 back in 5th August 2016 and that was 342 905 Kb. It installed as 19.0.0.96 on L1 and L2
L1 was manually updated with Update 1 and Update 2 to give 19.0.2.4
L2 was manually updated with Update 1 to give 19.0.1.8
In both of these cases the python libraries were present and there was no error about a missing module called random.
as Lata has mentioned "Update 1 version 19.0.1.8 (installing this cured the errors)"
So it appears that Update 1 may have included the Python libraries .
For L3 and D2, D3, D4 I downloaded a newer version of PSP X9 from the Corel order process.
It was downloaded on 25 th November 2016 and was 350 792 KB. It installed as 19.1.0.29.
In all these cases I received the error about missing module called random.
Because it was already updated there was no way I could install update 1 and update 2 to bring in the Python Libraries.
UPDATE***
Just uninstalled X9 from L3 and reinstalled X9 verion that I downloaded back in August finishing with 19.0.0.96 which also gave the error.
Then Installed Update 1 and watched this time as it operated and the Python Libraries are mentioned over and over again. So as well as any corrections mentioned on the Corel site they should also mention that this also installs the Python Libraries needed fro some scripts to work.
When they updated their X9 download package to include previous updates?? they failed to also include these Python Libraries.
This was corrected on Cassel's suggestion by downloading the PSPX9_PythonPackage.exe on a link she provided and installing on L3.
I have just re-downloaded PSP X9 from my email link and it is still 350 792 KB so I would presume that anyone purchasing X9 recently will be installing a program deficient in the python libraries.

And that is likely why that problem is only recently appearing.I would presume that anyone purchasing X9 recently will be installing a program deficient in the python libraries.

Thanks for that info, yes Corel have started doing that, updating the purchased version to include updates and service packs.
Should make it easier and looks better as the program does not need updates, unfortunately they got it wrong.
They did the same for Video Studio which now includes SP3, but first change was corrupt, not dissimilar to the latest download of PSP.
I wonder when they will learn from their mistakes?

Re: Needing help with an error message in X9
Dear PSP Folks,
Great thank you for taking your time to contribute your observation about this issue here. Very appreciated!! First of all, please accept my sincere apology if there is any inconvenience caused. Fortunately, we have found the key point to reproduce this issue, although the root cause is still under investigating. But we assume it should relate with some of Python modules are lost to install into Update3 version. Here is a quick summary:
1. The issue just occurs when your PSPX9 version is
- Install PSPX9 GM version (19.0.0.96) full build
- Install PSPX9 Update3 version (19.1.0.29) full build
or
- Install PSPX9 GM version (19.0.0.96) full build and then get "Update3" patch update and install it. (19.1.0.29)
2. The issue just occurs when you runs the script that uses the Random module, like the one shared (created) by Carole.
Because all default installed "script" is working well hence we do not have chances to get the error even fixing it before Update3 released.
Moreover, thanks Carole's helping to follow up with this problem and found a temporary solution can resolve this issue now.
To the user who encounters with this script issue right now, please download the "PythonPackage" from https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/546 ... ackage.exe and install it. In fact, the package has been added back to PSP since Update1 so it should be existed in Update3 theoretically. But the script issue just tells us something is wrong. Before we figure the root cause out and fix the issue into next patch (Update4), please download and install the "PythonPackage" as a temporary solution. We have confirmed the issue was gone after install it.
At last, I would like to say sorry again to those users who met this issue after Update3 installed. We knew the quality is very important for each update released and we should take all responsibility for the quality area. But please understood we do really spend much time in the testing process always. Going forward, we will try to cover more different testing case and content in order to avoid this kind of problem to happen again. Thank you for your understanding.
