So the error seems to be related top the latest update of PSP X9 . I could not test earlier versions of X9 on Windows 10.
My test used X9 19.1.0.29 running Windows 10 -- no errors

There must be some other differences?

If I recall correctly, the last X9 patch is also responsible for other issues, pspimage compatibility being one of them at least.

I'll throw a monkey wrench into the works - I used the same versions of Win 10 and X9 and had no error. The only difference may be that I installed the Python package that was mad available during testing, rather than getting it with the program.

That was exactly my guess since...
- beta testers don't have issues
- customers who bought PSP (downloaded version OR even disk version) seem to have issue.
- one customer who had bought the disk, had the issue fixed after adding the Python package.

Looks promising. In a way, if that is the "only" issue for this "bug", it is easy to solve!
Still waiting on a few more "testers" to confirm this hypothesis or not.

An additional thing. If I ran that script a second time I got 2 repeats of that message. 3rd time three repeats and 4 times 4 repeats.
If you can give me step by step directions for installing the Python libraries I can do a test before and after installing to try and confirm if that will fix it.

I didn't install the python package separately. I installed the GM version of the program and never installed the python package. I was going to install the libraries after the first update when I discovered the libraries were all there. According to Mr. Wood they bundled the python libraries in with patch 1.

Error has been solved by installing that package. The random.py file was missing from the \Python Libraries\Lib folder along with 207 .py files and 43 folders.

Will check further with the desktop versions giving error as well.

One other piece of information. I discovered that if I run the script, after I close PSP I get the message shown. As far as I can tell it occurs only after running the script. Can't do any more checking today but will let you know if I determine anything else.

Another of my customers had her issue fixed by adding that Python package, and she also reported that exact error when closing PSP.
I am not going to dig into that one though!

I tended to get that message if I ran the script and did not click OK, but just closed PSP with the upper right X.

If this helps regarding that runtime error message after closing PSP, I never received that window until I installed the scripts - some time ago - that were provided some time ago to open Nik Plugins that wouldn't open natively in PSP. Others reported the same issue back then after installing those scripts, and I believe the script developer admitted he didn't have an answer to the issue and didn't plan to investigate it. And because I still have those scripts installed I still do get that runtime error window more often than not when closing X7, Windows 8.1. So if somebody is receiving that error window now - with Cassel's script installed and run - when they didn't before, and if they don't have those Nik Plugin scripts, perhaps there is something common between the Nik Plugin scripts and Cassel's script that is throwing the error when PSP is closed. Just a thought.
