Hi All,
I was just playing with my newly purchased PS9 and changed some text to a preset text called BUGGY. Problem is now, I can't figure out how to stop it from using that preset every time I go to add more text. Even when I close PS9 down and bring it up again, it uses the BUGGY preset.
How do I get it to go back to just normal text? I can't find anything on reversing text presets.
Thank you and happy Thanksgiving.

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
Have you clicked on the font drop-down box on the Tools Option Palette to change the font?

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
Changing font only changes the font. It doesn't change the preset. All I'm left with is the same preset on a different font.

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
A preset is literally just font, color, and vector settings, so you can change these manually. When you change the font, you are no longer using the same preset you just haven't changed any of the other settings. You need to change them all to get away from what the preset did. And there is a reset option. But it's not easily used because of a weird bug. What you're experiencing is the flawed method in which PSP "enhanced" text.
If you're starting with a brand-new image just use the preset reset button. Open the presets window and you'll see an arrow that looks kind of like the undo arrow. This resets all settings to default. Warning: You can only do this if your image, or more specifically the layer you have selected, is not transparent. It's a very weird bug.
If your image is transparent, or you have a vector layer selected PSP will try to automatically use the last used settings to edit an existing bit of text or create a blank text layer. When this happens you just have to change the font settings and start typing your text.
If you have a raster layer that is non-transparent you can select this, and then change the preset or reset to default as a way of dealing with this.

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
Gonna have to test this. I did use the reset button and nothing happened. Let me mess around some more based on what you said LeviFiction. Will respond today or tomorrow. Thank you!

Preset seems to be more than just a font, color, and vector settings. My preset also adds a background image into the text, which is NOT corrected by clicking the RESET button. I had seen the RESET button before I ever started posting here and it wasn't doing anything. Part of the reason for posting.
Even shutting PSP 9 down and bringing it up again doesn't reset it. Still applies the preset from the previous session.

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
I believe the "background image" you refer to is actually a texture. You can turn this on and off via the foreground/background swatches on the materials palette. If that isn't it please post a screen-shot of what you are seeing.

Re: Help. PS 9 Text Presets Question
There ya go! You're right Kathy. That'll do it. Any idea why the RESET button, in presets, doesn't work? Should it be reported?Kathy_9 wrote:I believe the "background image" you refer to is actually a texture. You can turn this on and off via the foreground/background swatches on the materials palette. Thank you to everyone who replied to my request for help.
