Facebook picture in a picture

Post by fndooley »

This is probably too dumb of a question to ask on this user board, but you folks are geniuses and have helped me out on everything I have asked so far! This is just driving me nuts. May have absolutely nothing to do with my PSP program, but ever since I installed it and edit a picture, then post that picture on Facebook, I get this annoying picture in a picture. Look carefully in the upper left hand corner. Looked all over Facebook and do not see it anywhere else. Anybody else ever come across this? If so, how do I get it to quit doing this? I Googled and searched and came up with nothing. Thanks in advance.

OK have not seen that before. Can you give more details?
Give step by step what you do to get your picture on Facebook.
Which version of PSP?
Are you trying to place a Tif or a jpg on facebook?
What does the image look lik before you place it on facebook?

Thanks for taking an interest hartpaul. I have never seen it before either. I use 64bit version of pro x8 psp. I work in tif format and that is how I upload to facebook. did not try to convert to jpg., but begs the question. I will try that and see if it is the tif format for some reason doing it. the image looks esactly like the picture without the little corner pic. no pic in a pic. only happens when I try to post to facebook.

I went in to ifranview and did a save as jpg. format. went to facebook and posted and presto! no picture in a picture. so it has something to do with being in tif format - but I don't know what. kind of a pain in the butt to do the conversion every time I want to post, but I guess pick your poison. either picture in a picture with tif format or make a copy in jpg.

I suspect that the tifs have a couple of layers where one is a thumbnail file. This question was asked and answered here:

okay hartpaul... that explains it. read both articles and apparently thumbnails are being stored with my tiff images and then exposed for some reason when I upload to facebook. I have no idea how those thumbnails are being stored in the first place though. is it something I did when I scanned these slides to digital tiff format?

Not sure what is happening with you, but it will be up to you to experiment with your scanning system and program to see what is happening.
I have an old (2003) Canon N122OU scanner and when I scan an image it asks what image editing program I want to use to receive the scan. I use PSP X2 for this.
The immage appears on the workspace and this is a bit mapped image - not a tif, not a jpg or any other type of image . I can now save it as a tif or jpg or psp file.
Saved it as a tif with no compression.
Reloading a tif does not show a thumbnail in any versions of PSP, so it is a single tif file with no thumbnail .
In regard to your tifs that you are loading to facebook I took a jpg image, resized it to 1000 pixels on longest side saves it as a tif and then uploaded it to facebook.
Sure enough it showed a thumbnail in upper left.
When I saved that image as a jpg and uploaded it to facebook the image showed as normal.

Solution - don't upload tifs to facebook.
When I viewed and then saved the tif related image from facebook it saved as a jpg so there is no value in uploading tifs to facebook.
