Cutting out pictures to exact size?

Post by psphufi »

I need to cut parts of photos to the size of 225 * 500 pixels.
With cutting freehand this is nearly impossible!

Has anyone an idea?

Thank you!

Few questions:

1) When you say "cut" do you mean delete? Or cut to the clipboard? Or Crop?

2) Do you need to cut multiple parts of the same image? Or just one part on multiple images?

To quickly select multiple areas in an image and cut them out or delete them you can use this method.
1) Select the Selection tool
2) Hit the "Custom Selection" button
3) Set the Top = 0, Left = 0, Right = 255, Left = 500.
4) Right-click inside the selection and you can drag the selection rectangle wherever you want.
5) Hit CTRL + X or Delete to delete the selected area

With the Crop tool you may specify the size in pixels and crop as new image.

Size is specified on the tool options palette. You'll see Pixel Dimensions and Print Size options. The drop down you have there is for the presets.

The Menu item View>Palettes has options to turn various palettes on or off. If you have Tool Options checked you get the options for all the different tools. It is important to become familiar with the options for each tool so that you can use them most effectively. :-)
