Hi
Try Shift and click to select adjacent clips
Then right click for insert to options

Re: Video x 9 selection
click on the first clip of any particular type - you cannot mix video and audio using this procedure - shift + click on the last one of that type to select all - or Ctrl + select to add isolated clips
standard Windows selection processes
Right click on the selected clips and choose "Insert to "
repeat for other types ( audio say)

Re: Video x 9 selection
Sorry Brian, I may have misled you. What I want to do is select all items and transfer them to the timeline. I have about 150 items to transfer and it takes for ever. Also, whilst contacting you, is there a manual for this programme? I know that there is a lot of videos etc, but I wonder if anybody has written a manual. Many thanks for your help, Roy

Re: Video x 9 selection
but the instructions I gave you ARE to transfer everything to the timeline ??
first you must select every thing -- but as videos and pictures need to go to a different timeline than audio they must be done separately
when they are selected then you can use the right click option we gave you
There is a user guide which can be accessed from within Videostudio by going to "Help >> User Guide (pdf) " - - internet connection required
do not know of any manuals for these later editions - there was one some years back - I think for version X6

Re: Video x 9 selection
Sorry again, I still don't seem to have made myself clear. I want to select all the clips in one go, ie. I thought I could hold down the 'Alt' key, for example, and then swipe the other clips to select them all and then 'hold click' them all down to the timeline. I hope that clarifies my request.
Regards, Roy.

Re: Video x 9 selection
You can do exactly that, but use the shift key, highlight the first clip, then hold the shift key and highlight the last clip, then drag the highlighted clips to the timeline

Re: Video x 9 selection
I am not at all sure why you are not following what we are saying - see if this video helps - https://youtu.be/-ggFVg8wrsc
the fist click on the thumbnail is a single left click - then the second click on the final picture thumbnail is with the shift key held down - this is a standard windows procedure used in many windows programmes to select multiple items
then a right click on the selected block gives a pop-up where you can select "Insert to" - and in the next pop-up select "Video track" or "Overlay track " - after a few seconds the items appear in the timeline
you cannot drag the selected block down into the timeline because as soon as you try to click on it the multi-select is undone and only one thumbnail will be selected
that is the only interpretation I can put on your original question - if this is still not right can you ask in a different way

Re: Video x 9 selection
Hi all you helpers. That was the answer. I knew it could be done and where i had gone wrong was not using the drop down menu for the insert. I had been accessing them all and attempting to drag and drop. Hence the problem. I appreciate all your help. It's some years since I last used the programme and the brain gets rusty with age I guess. Any way. Many thanks all. Roy
