Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
So, I'm a new user to Corel VideoStudioX9 but not a new user as far as editing software... Gotta say, I'm glad I switched apps. Anyway, the program has been working great... until today. I worked with it for about 2 hours this morning, broke for lunch and I come back to this error.
So, I guess the problem has not been fixed. Interestingly enough, the work around for me is to disable the internet prior to launching... it works... it then turn the internet back on afterward.
Please fix...

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
So where's this hotfix everyone keeps linking for VSX9? (https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/articles/227863267 doesn't work) Could someone share a link that works please? I've just run into this issue today on both of my machines (WIN 8 & 10). It's incredibly frustrating and I've tried the security update fix and full reinstall (with cleanup) to no avail.

The fix seems to have vanished but for a temporary solution I find if I turn my wifi connection off and leave it off it runs fine. Hoping they fix this soon.

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Corel are aware of the problem and say that their IT area is working on a new fix, which they hope to have very soon. (FWIW I also get the error.)

Thanks for the reply, I figured out how to block it via firewall after quite a bit of searching. Thanks for the quick replies.

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
The hotfix was removed because apparently it was intended to correct a different error and would not work for everyone.

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
My quick fix only lasted a short time. VS still refuses to launch unless I disconnect from the internet. I see where it's been posted now what's causing it, the bloat-ware, advert stuff. Like I stated I still must disconnect from the internet to launch Corel products. NOT GOOD Practice.

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
This issue has reared it's head again!. And once again X9 is unusable. One does wonder about the marketing in Corel: it seems they want to drive users away . . . when they can't even get their software to dependably start.
I originally had that error = 100 message but observing the earlier fracas about it, and the supposed fix that Glus mentioned, it went away. I posted my comments (18 Nov) about checking that music site after VS has started, eg in the get more content page as a result.
But now it's back again, 0850 AEST (GMT+10) on 22 Dec 2016. Screenshot attached (same as before, but if Corel ever deigns to read this thread maybe they might think - after 5 pages of complaints, some repeating - this is an issue that should be fixed, hopefully deep-sixed). Davidk

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Yeah, this has happened to me, the first thing i did was try to uninstall the plug ins that came "free" with my purchase of video studio pro x9.
That didn't have any effect, but i was skimming posts, and i found that when i unplugged from internet, the program started right up, and MUCH FASTER than usual.
I plug in the ethernet cable for internet, and BAM same message, "get all items failed, result=100.
You know, I saw a few broken links to stuff right here in this thread... I am willing to bet that SOMEONE MOVED SOMETHING FROM A SERVER SOMEWHERE and now that "cget all items failed" is because of some net tech deleting something they should not have deleted, or changing something, or restricting access. It's the same reason I won't buy a gaming console, the "constant on" connection requirement, and then, even when you are connected, some bone head moves something from a server and the program you paid for don't work.
I had to make a log in and create this account just to comment on this thread because I am getting really, really tired of having problems with corel products, hence the user name i created to make this comment.
I had to discover on my own that to speed up loading the program, you should eventually delete all those thumbnails in the library that I never use anyway. Now, I go to start the program, after using it just a few days ago. I have used the program for a few months without any problems, except choppy preview playback that I don't even try to figure out. I just select "clip" to play a clip instead of "project." But, even then, I only use this program do do a few things. I string together some MP4 files, then I put a title on it, and output a WMV and a MP4. I do this with such regularity, and now all the sudden, the program just straight up don't work until i UNPLUG THE INTERNET WHICH IS FREAKING RIDICULOUS COREL. COME ON YOU GUYS! GEEZ!!!
I wish there was a note somewhere about speeding up the program just deleting the thousands of thumbnails that build up if you let them when you take a lot of screen shots.
Now, there is this business of the program searching for something that it can't find, probably because someone somewhere moved it, and there is no option to NOT check for updates when starting the program. This is probably related to the FREAKING AD that loads up nearly every time you exit the freaking program. Maybe they tried to put an ad in before the program loads, and some freaking genius never put the freaking ad page on the net where it's supposed to be, and now we have to deal with this crap.
It's not a freaking windows update... Classic... Freaking corel moved something, and because the program takes forever to look for some crap on the net every time you start it, now it won't start at all, and I have to get off my rear end and unplug an ethernet internet connection to use this freaking program and have it start FASTER... I may try a sony product next "update."

Thanks, better advice than ANYTHING I saw from the actual people who got paid for the actual software... Kind of disappointing... I hope my previous post complaining about needing to be disconnected from the net makes it to the forum at all.
I bet I am right, the ads that come up are not where they are supposed to be, so the whole freaking program just freaks... It's remarkable how disconnecting the internet allows the program to start up FASTER THAN I HAVE EVER SEEN IT START IN MONTHS OF USING IT. I have also removed those "free" plug ins that came with the $25 version of the upgrade I got to 9... That did not help, but I never used them anyway.

David (and others who have posted since then), as I said a couple of posts above your own, Corel are aware of this problem and their IT area is working on a new fix which they hope to have out soon.Davidk wrote:...if Corel ever deigns to read this thread maybe they might think - after 5 pages of complaints, some repeating - this is an issue that should be fixed

Add me to the list of complainers. What the heck Corel? I mean come on! How many time does this make that you break your own program? Get with the times. There is no reason for these flubups from you. It's called, "TESTING". Test out your changes thoroughly before you release them and work hand in hand with Microsoft to make sure that any changes they are making does not screw the program up. Do I need to come there and teach you how to run things?

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
The most annoying thing about this is that i've spent the last 2 hours uninstalling and reinstalling and now found this thread.
Ive most likely lost a lot of settings and data doing all this and probably messed up the background files of VideoStudio...
Still no idea what to do to fix it... Apart from just wait?
