VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
X9 has been running fine since I installed it a few months ago. I used it earlier this evening, closed the program, then tried to open it again to do more editing. However it wouldn't load. The initial splash screen stays in place for several minutes, then closes with a small window saying "Get all items failed. Result = 100".
Following a search I came across this on the Corel knowledgebase, which describes the situation, except that in my case the error screen doesnt appear as quickly as they say:
https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... esult-100-
It says click on the link for a hotfix, which I did, and it downloaded a file called vstudio.exe (8490 kB), which I used to replace the original vstudio.exe file. VS now loads and runs (thank goodness) but (1) is much slower to load (waiting for longer than usual at the splash screen) and (2) Norton is flagging something about firewall issues but I cannot read it because the Norton screen is directly behind the Corel splash screen and I cant move them separately. Maybe trying to access the internet is one reason why the new load is taking so long.
Do you have any idea what might be happening with the slow load and firewall? The Corel knowledgebase article is not dated, but Norton says this file was released about 2 months ago, but fewer than 50 Norton users have used it, so it seems not many people have had this problem.
is the program maybe checking for updates when I load it? I cannot see an option to stop this in the program. Is there any way to stop this - and should I?
Many thanks if you are able to advise.
Jim.
Added later - if I dismiss the Norton warning then the program seems to load immediately, and continues to do so on further loads, so you can ignore all this posting if you want. However I will leave it here and not delete it in case anyone else has the same problem. But the moderators please delete it if you think appropriate, because I have ended up answering it myself.

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Hi Jim
I downloaded that fix and applied to my program, now VS 9.5 does not seem start, just the splash screen, running for ever.
Task Manager to close that, not ideal.
Tried again and left it running what seemed to be a lifetime, then it disappeared all by itself, the splash screen that is. No program
Waiting a while I noticed the program listed in task manager, eventually it showed but it did take a long long time.
The next start seemed much quicker about 8 seconds.
It did take a while to get the program running, but I have learnt to be patient when resetting Video Studio.
I do not have Norton so cannot compare programs, McAfee the one I have did not complain.
My program was already registered so no delay because of internet connections, same goes for Muserk and Triple Scoop, I believe they need the internet to load.
Try running VS with your internet off for a few starts.

Using the vstudio fix seems to have removed the contents of the library Muserk and Triple Scoop, hmmm

Hi Asik
You keep mentioning 9.2 but some users do not have that version and only 9.5.
Not because of service packs but because they purchased 9.5

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Yep, looks like a recent Windows Update has prevented VSX9 running again. I'm using Win 7, and went to create a video just now only to find the program dieing after a protracted splash screen display.
There's support at the Corel site here: https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... 267?page=1 and a supposed hotfix but many comments there are getting my problem. When the hotfix is run, you get an error "The program can't start because UiaProvider.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."
Annoying, but this is a very recent problem, so eventually a hotfix fix might get fixed??

Thank you.

Error message I got by clicking on "Task View" says: Get All items failed, result+100

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
I just encountered this problem. I downloaded the hot-fix, but it failed to execute due to missing DLL's. After thinking about it, I decided to rename it and copy it into the X9 folder. After that it ran fine and now x9 loads....RDK

Video Studio X9 Not Opening files
I worked with Corel Video Studio X9 this morning and it was working fine. Now every time I try to open a file, I get the message:
"Get All items failed, result = 100.
Does anyone have an idea why this is happening and how I can correct the problem?

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Seeing this thread, I just tried to open X9.5, and got the same error that others have reported here. My last Windows 10 update was last Thursday (10 November) when Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3200970) was installed. However, I am totally sure that I opened X9.5 successfully at least twice since then. I have checked in Windows Update History, there was no further update since the one above.
Like lata, Task Manager > Background Processes showed VS still open. I left it alone, and curiously enough, it moved from Background Processes to the running Apps part of Task Manager -- though no program appeared on my screen.
So I then downloaded the suggested Hotfix. I first renamed the existing vstudio.exe file, just in case...
I then tried running X9.5 again. Jim Pickles: my experience has been that VS takes around 3 minutes to open whenever there has been an update. I guess it regarded changing the exe file as a sort of update as the splash screen stayed active once again for about that long...
But after that, the splash screen disappeared and nothing happened! No message about a missing dll such as those mentioned on that Corel support site. Just Corel Video Studio shown as running in Task Manager > Background Processes. But then, after *another* three or four minutes, the program opened successfully!! I closed it and then reopened it, and it did so in about 8 seconds. I can't explain it... But I will let Corel know what is going on!!
EDIT: I've sent an email to Corel asking for urgent action. I also subsequently found, like lata, that the Samples library has now lost the Scorefitter and Muserk libraries -- though that does not concern me personally since I am unlikely to every want to use them...

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
All very strange - my experience was almost exactly the same as Kens - except that after the splash screen disappeared after starting with the new vstudio .exe nothing at all happened - I waited 10 minutes before opening task manager Videostudio was shown as a background process - but as soon as I clicked on it with the intention of closing it all the numbers started ramping up and suddenly Videostudio launched
after that closing and opening seems quite normal
so be prepared for strange behaviour after changing vstudio.exe

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
Same situation here, applied hotfix, now get "The publisher could not be verified" message, selected "run" and after about 3 mins program opened, library no longer contains any Muserk, but I still do have a limited amount of Triple Scoop available

I have the same problem, and would love to use Ken's fix. But, what exactly to I need to rename the file to?

Re: VideoStudio X9 suddenly wouldn't load
I can run version 19.1.0.10. When I try to upgrade to ver. 9.5 the program will not start, except for the splash screen.
Corel needs to fix this fast as a good program is becoming useless. The old version starts up quickly-go figure. The fix
does not run on my machine. My problem is unable to upgrade and I tried the 19 folder trick.
