The lights flickered but the computer kept working! But I confess it got a bit scary -- probably the most powerful -- and certainly the longest -- earthquake I have experienced over the years and around the world (Philippines, Chile, Algeria). But my house (wooden, thank goodness) and dogs are safe. I feel very sorry, though, for the people closer to the epicentre...

About 350 km north west... But it was even felt in Auckland which is another 600 km north of me...
