I wanted to apply as a texture an image to a blank book page.
I know I can deform an image area keeping perspective proportion, but in my case I need to adapt it to a curved/deformed surface and not to a simple rectangle...
Is it possible to do something like this with PaintShop Pro X9? --- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLdLwxt0nB8
How can I apply a deformed image to another object?

You may try the Mesh Warp tool and apply a deformation map or do it manually.
But PSP is not able to Mesh Warp "outside" the image. The image stays rectangular.
Other softwares can do that (Photoshop, Affinity Photo and if I remember CorelDraw too).
If you want to deform the rectangle itself (borders), apply a large "empty" border around the image. So you may deform the borders too (and remove the unwanted area after deform).

Re: How can I apply a deformed image to another object?
PSP does not have a dedicated feature to warp an image to a surface, but with the use of the Mash Warp Tool it is very doable.
1. Bring the base image and the image to be used as a cover into PSP
2. Copy the cover image and past as new layer in the base image
3. Reduce the opacity of the new layer so you can see the base image
4. use the Pick Tool to size and place the cover image on the base image
5. Use the Canvas Size tool to create more room to work
6. Use the Warp Tool to adjust the cover image to fit properly on the base image
7. Re-adjust Opacity, Merge layers and Crop as needed to create a finished image
I hope this helps

Very useful thank you. Undervalued the power of Mesh Warp to adapt the image to the curved page surface manually...Charlie77 wrote:PSP does not have a dedicated feature to warp an image to a surface, but with the use of the Mash Warp Tool it is very doable.

P.S.
Please, consider "something similar to PS Smart Objects manipulation" a feature request for next PSP to easily load and reapply any image to the mesh.

Re: How can I apply a deformed image to another object?
You can save and load a warp that you made. It's not very advanced but you can do it.
On the tool options palette you'll see an option for "deformation Map" with a load icon (folder) and a save icon (diskette). Once you've made your warp, and before you apply it, hit the save icon to save the warp. It'll ask for a name for this new warp so make sure it matches what you need.
Then to re-load that warp on a new image just hit the load icon and select your warp from the list. This works for both the warp brush and the warp mesh.

Re: How can I apply a deformed image to another object?
Great! A bit "complicated" but actually a powerful feature, thank you all for the hints...
The more I use PSP the more I discover it was a very good purchase that can actually replace other well known paint/photo-editing programs.
