Clone tool stopped working in X5

I've been using PSPX5 for years with no problems, but today I may have clicked on something by accident & the clone tool doesn't work now, I can select it & move the pointer to a spot but it won't copy & paste.
I've tried restarting the programme by holding down the shift key with no luck,

Could it be your mouse? Maybe the right click to set the clone spot is not registering.

Thanks for your reply,
I think I may have done something by clicking on the icon decreasing the image & hit 'fit image to window' by mistake,
& not knowing it was that, I started trying the bar below with the pre set tools.

I think I see a slight change when I right click on the image with the clone tool, so maybe I've altered 'opacity' or one of those with the blue lines under them

I just don't know how to get them back to the right settings.

Each Tool may have Presets on the left of the Tool Options.
Click the down arrow to the right of that and you get a dropdown box which has a number of buttons. One of these when you mouse over will show Reset to Default.
Click that button and most of the Tool options for that tool will be set to a default starting value. It is a good habit when starting a new session to reset each tool you use.

It's working fine after doing that & saved me a lot of angst, that's the main tool I use to repair photos free on a genealogy forum,
so I am very grateful to you for your help,

You are welcome. Don't forget that you can use that option with many tools . Usually PSP remembers the last used settings and this might not suit a new work session and you may not be able to remember what you changed so Resetting to default for a tool is a quick way of getting back to a default start position.
