Is it possible to increase the size of the shots in the timeline and how can I move the shots in the timeline forward to give some black and title space to permit introduction? Many thanks in anticipation, Rolly

What do you mean by "size" ? higher ? longer ?

you can have blank black (or any colour) by adding color blocks from the color library and setting their duration to any thing you wish

you do not need spaces to add further clips - just drag a new one down from the library over the join where you want it and the existing clips will move right to make room for it

Like Brian, I'm not really sure what you mean by increasing the size. But if you just mean the size/height of the tracks in the timeline, then hover your mouse over the black line which the arrow in this image is pointing at. The mouse cursor should change into two small parallel lines with tiny arrows above and below them. Then left click, hold and drag the line upwards. This will increase the height of the tracks. However it will also diminish the size of the preview screen.

As for the colour library which Brian mentioned, you'll find it here. Make sure you pick 'Color' at the top. This will give you a variety of coloured panels to choose from. Once you drag and drop a panel into the timeline you can increase its length by clicking on its right hand end and dragging it to the desired length.
