install VS Pro X9
I have been working trying to install VS X9 pro. Most of the time I get the dialog box telling me it cannot get Get Last error: 5 or get technical support or some type of security Issue.
Can someone please furnish me the proper combination of events to install this program? I have disabled all virus programs to no avail. I am Running windows 7 pro 64-bit with sp1, I had to re-load my computer and have completed same but no VS Studio yet. If anyone can send me step by step instructions I would appreciate it. I tried inserting the install CD to auto play but it does not offer that install from media option only view folder contents.

Re: install VS Pro X9
Hi Bill
Two things
1 / If the program has failed to install then run the CVSX9 Cleanup Tool, then try to re-install the program again
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=59847
From the disc I also do not get the auto run but see the installation files.
Go to the 64Bit folder / Pro
Find Setup.exe to install the main program.
You may be best to copy the entire contents of the disc to your hard drive and install from there.
Once installed you must install the Hotfix disc version “VSX91_SP1.exe” as below. The program should now run. Continue to install other packs.
Standard Content, setup_CHD.exe
And– Bonus pack, I think from 64bit folder.
2 / There was a Windows update that affected the disc version of X9.
Corel did provide a Hotfix for X9 but I have looked at the download page and do not see that hotfix.
I will attached that file to this post, when I get it to work? run that file after installing, then try to start CVSX9.
Link to file on my One Drive
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApBs8FwBwJ5jhjDoP_Xij1Ykh-DU
Strange that the SP1 is not available from Corels web site?

Re: install VS Pro X9
Hi Trevor,
I have been working since your mail and have nothing to report. I followed your instructions to the letter and still the same two failures. The program tells me that I have gotten a “Fatal Error” or “Get Last Error: 5”., and then it stops. I can report that this is a fresh install on this computer and I have disabled the windows firewall and windows defender, all virus software and anything else that is anti-anything has either been disabled or removed.
I have been using Corel products since they bought from Ulead and have never had this much trouble, I start back with VS 6. This is the first real problem I have had with the program since I purchased VS 9 Pro back in July. Of course I do recognize the problems could all becoming from Microsoft making changes and updates. It installed without too much difficulty in July but this is completely unacceptable for the performance of a product. It did not take this long to reload the whole machine and in all this time I am still not any closer to getting it back on the machine. It is my hope that you may have some other thoughts or can turn me in a new direction because at this point I am lost.
Best regards and thank you for trying to help

Re: install VS Pro X9
Hi Bill
On the disc is a VideoStudio.exe file about 10Mb
That is what we know as the Web installer, do you see that file?
If so double click to run, you should be prompted to insert your serial number.
Does the program install from there?

Re: install VS Pro X9
Well the program is finally on BUT………………..only the sub programs
will open! The editor remains immovable as it was trying to get it loaded.
Only SP 1 would load the rest, tell me that they can’t find the version. Finally, I
believe that the program only loaded up because of the fact that I loaded it first, even
‘before any virus software.
Thanks again for all the help, I needed every bit of it!

Re: install VS Pro X9
Hi Bill
Good news
If you have the program running, go to About – Check for Updates.
Do not try to install any service packs manually allow Check for Updates to do its thing.
Download and install any updates found.
Then Help – About should show your version as 19.5.0.35
When the program first runs there could be a long delay before the program shows, be patient, this is normal.

Re: install VS Pro X9
Hi Trevor,
Getting nowhere fast! The program is loaded but will not open. It is installed alone from
a fresh install to the computer. There is no virus software installed
at all and still it will not open. There cannot be any conflict because
it’s on the computer by itself.
Regards,
Bill

Re: install VS Pro X9
Something strange has happened in the past 24 hours or so which has blocked many of us (all of us?) from opening X9.5. See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 16#p335116 I have asked Corel to investigate as a matter of urgency -- though that thread contains a number of suggested fixes, one of which worked with me -- with a lot of patience!!

Re: install VS Pro X9
Thank you, I’ll give that exe a try. Maybe not related to this problem but
all day Sunday I could not just get my Gmail, I had to log-in all day each time
I wanted it and I later found that I was not alone. Funny business from our recent election over here, I wonder? In any event, I thank you again Ken for your help.

Re: install VS Pro X9
Most unusual???? The new exe worked just fine but a new occurrence
from inside the program?? When I start a new project, and open the program
for the first time, I always like to delete all the samples as they get in my way and
I don’t use them, I did so this morning. Completing my project, I closed the program
but later had to reopen it. All the deleted samples had returned! Since this has
never happened before, I thought I should call it to your attention.
Best wishes & fingers crossed, and thank you again,

Hi Bill
Thanks for the info, has been reported before, here:-
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=60315
I think this started with the upgrade to X9.5, I did report this to Corel with a reply
“We have recorded this issue as a bug, will have further investigation on it.”

Re: install VS Pro X9
I forgot to mention one other thing. When using the Video Studio Cleaner; I
found that it was better to re-boot the computer before trying another installation
of the program. This seemed to clear the computer out and refresh it.
Again, many thanks for all the help,
