Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
- Remember the last applied angle on the next images. Could be set in Preferences : to check or not "Remember last applied straighten"
I'm working many times on successives images which are often the same angle (or near) "defect". To have the last applied angle makes the correction faster (less manipulations).
- An "automatic" detection when moving the straighten line near an object on the image. It could stick to the correct wanted correction. And we could accept or correct. This would be a very important improvement imho!
- When the straighten angle is correct, could we have a right-click menu with "Apply" ? This is faster than going up to click on Apply.

I think this is an excellent suggestion for all tools that need you to check Apply, including the Text tool. I think I'll request it (as your suggestion) in the Workspace thread.Jean-Luc wrote:When the straighten angle is correct, could we have a right-click menu with "Apply" ? Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
If you double-click on the canvas it applies the angle.

Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
I just checked with a lot of the tools that have an apply mark up top and as Levifiction has mentioned left double click does all those applications, except for the Crop tool. So no need for a Right click context Apply which would require two clicks anyway.

Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
As a possible work around: The straighten tool has a "last applied" under Presets on the tool options bar (F4). It sets the tool to the angle, regardless of canvas size (PSP X7).Jean-Luc wrote:- Remember the last applied angle on the next images. Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
Yes, but it needs to click each time on "last applied". What I want is the tool displays automatically the last applied angle when working on successive images which are open on the workspace. When I click to put the focus on the next image, the straighten line should display the last applied without the need to clik on this preset.Forriner wrote: As a possible work around: The straighten tool has a "last applied" under Presets on the tool options bar (F4). Another request : when working on same size images, say scanned pages, the tool could display on the same location as the previous image (and same applied angle). Actually, it display on the center of the image, so we need to move it.
Another handy improvement could be the tool makes the straigthening automatically (we should only accept or correct): when scanning text pages, this could help to do the job very fast. Some scanning softwares have this option but we don't all own a professional scanning software...

Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
That wouldn't be useful for me personally because I never work with sets of photographs, but I can definitely see that it would be useful for people who do, which includes many PSP users.Jean-Luc wrote:- Remember the last applied angle on the next images. Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
I think a variation of that would be better--an "editable combo box" (a drop-down that lets the user type something in) with three options:Jean-Luc wrote:Another request : when working on same size images, say scanned pages, the tool could display on the same location as the previous image (and same applied angle). - Use last location
- Center on image
- User-defined
=====================
"Same location" also raises another issue. Would that be:
- Last vertical location, but centered and with the line always the same length.
- Last vertical and left-indent location with the line always the same length.
- Duplicate the last line in location and length.

Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
1) it would be nice if there was a free rotate option. You'd have to be able to grab the layer and spin it in real time, not set a value then wait for the program to catch up.
2a) not the Straighten Tool, but rather the Perspective Correction Tool it would be nice if there was a Maintain Central Scale option to keep drastic changes from squeezing the image. If Crop Image was set it would have to heavily crop, but that's just what would need to be done (for drastic changes in Perspective Correction).
2b) also in the Perspective Correction tool it would also be nice to free rotate the grid. If you need to straighten and correct perspective it would be nice to have that in one tool.
2c) also when hitting the reset button on Perspective Correction it would be nice if it didn't reset the grid lines option, just leave it at 2. Or default it to 2 (rule of thirds).

Re: PSP: How can Straighten Tool improve?
I prefer the straighten tool in ASP - it require far less "fiddling" than the PSP tool.
