Re: PSP: How can Eraser Tool improve?
Ability to target shadows, midtones, and highlights. The ability to erase only a specific channel (R,G, B).
I would love it if the tool could remember the original opacity of pixels during a session making it far less destructive. In some cases you have a layer that is already transparency or translucent. You accidentally erase too much, go to fix it, and the eraser tool brings back colors that weren't there before. Makes it very annoying.

I second LeviFictions suggestion. Those returning colours are more than annoying.

When right clicking the eraser you can bring back something you've erased. This is pretty handy. However when you're working with a layer that didn't have pixels the entire layer when you right click you add the color of Background and Fill. It would be nice if it didn't add anything there on right click that wasn't there before.

Sometimes, erasing pixels of a precise color is needed locally. If the Eraser tool could erase selective colors, it could be an improvement.LeviFiction wrote: The ability to erase only a specific channel (R,G, B).

Depending on what you mean, technically the background eraser tool can already do this.Jean-Luc wrote:Sometimes, erasing pixels of a precise color is needed locally. If the Eraser tool could erase selective colors, it could be an improvement.
Under the "Sampling" drop down you can either use continuous (for backgrounds), Once to sample direct from the image and only delete that color (within a set tolerance), or foreswatch or backswatch which use your foreground and background colors as the color to remove. Again, within the set tolerance.

An example...LeviFiction wrote: Depending on what you mean,
I want to remove the red pixels in my image (see attached). In other terms, make them transparent.
The Color replacer tool cannot replace a color with a "non colored" pixel, IMHO.
And I cannot do the job easily with the Background Eraser tool in this situation.
The way I suggest :
Add an option in the Eraser tool : "Remove Foreground color" (the color displayed in the Foreground Properties of the Materials palette).
So, the Eraser tool will only erase the selected color. We are speaking here from Eraser tool improvement and not the way to do it with other tools...

Re: PSP: How can Eraser Tool improve?
I understand what we're talking bout Jean-luc. xD But, again, the backgound eraser tool has an option to erase based on the foreground color and background colors very easily. Not saying it shouldn't be done; but, why would we improve the eraser tool with the same functionality that already exists?

Re: PSP: How can Eraser Tool improve?
I admit you are right about the Background Eraser. It does the job, but it needs many clicks with the settings to achieve the task.LeviFiction wrote:... why would we improve the eraser tool with the same functionality that already exists?
It seems to me that this task could be done easily with the Eraser tool if this option is added to the tool. For first time users, it would be more easy. I think the philosophy of Corel is to KISS...
About the "already exists", they are other tools in PSP which are some duplicates of functionalities already present (for example, the Brightness/Contrast tool).
