Saving PSPX6 layered image so will open in PSP X2
Good Evening,
I have PSPX6 on my pc which I use all the time, Ive created an album cover using this, so it is in layers. I have to visit the client so need to take my laptop, problem is, my laptop has PSPX2 on it, and when I try to open the X2 image in X6 I get a message saying " This is not a valid PSP Image file. Is there anything I can do to open it in X2?
Thank you in advance
Nikki

PSP files are backward compatible but not forward compatible. New features wont/cant be rendered by older versions.
Why not just do an install of x6 on your laptop? You can have both x2 and x6 on the one computer with no worries.

And the PSP EULA allows installation on up to three computers... so no legal worries there either!

Installing X6 on the laptop is the best option but if that is not feasible try the following.
When you save the pspimage file in X6, there is an Options button in the Save As dialog box. Click Options and and a Save Options dialog box will appear. In the middle of that dialog box is a Version Save As drop down box. Select PSP 12 as this is how they have listed PSP X2.
As was mentioned if you have used elements in X6 that are not supported in X2 there may be a conflict.

Re: Saving PSPX6 layered image so will open in PSP X2
Awww, thank you lovely people
I had x6 added on my new pc when it was built, so I dont have the installation files
I have tried to save it as PSP12 as suggested, but I dont have the option for that in "save" and "save as" there is no options, only save as type
Maybe Im doing something wrong, but Ive tried to save it different ways and at no time does an options bit come up, only save file type, and there is no option to save as PSP 12
Thank you so much for your time, it is very much appreciated.

Take a close look at that image that Kathy_9 posted with her instructions. When you go to File>Save As you should get a dialogue box that allows you to change the file name and, below that, Save As Type. To the right of those two options there should be 4 buttons, the last one which says Options. Don't you have those 4 buttons? If not, then there is something wrong with your version of PSP X6.
